The national airline has increased flights from Sylhet recently. Biman flight BG235 will operate on the Sylhet-Jeddah route every Thursday from December 28. BG237 will run on the Sylhet-Madinah route every Wednesday from December 27, and BG227 is scheduled to connect Sylhet to Abu Dhabi from December 13 with its flights every Wednesday from December 11.

DHAKA AIRPORT RUNWAY TO REOPEN FOR 24HR OPERATIONS FROM 2 MAY | Dhaka Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport's runway was unavailable from 12AM to 8AM from 11 December, 2021 to complete construction and join two new rapid exit taxiways to the runway and to perform maintenance work on the runway lighting system. CAAB has announced that the work has been completed ahead of time and now the airport will be able to resume 24 hour operations from May 2nd, 2022.

During this closure, Sylhet Osmani International Airport was made available as an alternate airport. Construction work at Chattogram Shah Amanat International Airport nearing completion.

This is not the first time that Dhaka’s runway had been closed. Back in 2013 the runway was closed from December to June at night, to allow for repaving of the runway and improving the lighting system.
