𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗳𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸 𝗼𝗳 𝗕𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗸-𝗻𝗲𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗲 𝗯𝗶𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝘄𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝗕𝗵𝘂𝘁𝗮𝗻
Phobjikha witnessed the first arrival of four Black-necked Crane birds for 2022-2023 winter migration to Bhutan. The four individuals includes two adults and two juveniles. They arrived at five minutes past two o’clock today.
This year’s arrival has followed similar pattern to previous year winter migration period 2021-2022 where three cranes arrived on 4th November.
Flocks of this species will gradually increase in the coming days with the beautiful calls echoing the valley of Phobjikha. The species will spend around four months in Bhutan with most species returning by February to their summer breeding ground. For 2021-2022 migration period, the Royal Society for Protection of Nature has counted 599 Black-Necked Cranes in the country.
Places like Phobjikha, Khotokha, Bumdeling and Bumthang are important habitat areas in Bhutan for the Black-necked Cranes. Phobjikha is located at 3,000 metres above sea level with wide wetland coverage valley.

Thimphu Dromchoe commences from today for three days with conclusion of the 11-day annual Lhamoi Drubchhen, a rite performed to appease Pelden Lhamo (the Goddess Mahakali), one of the three main spiritual protectors of the Drukpa Kargyu school of Buddhism.
This sacred Drubchhen was instituted between 1705 and 1709 by Kuenga Gyaltshen, the first reincarnation of Jampel Dorji, the son of Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal.
The Lham Tsom dance, a highlight of the Thimphu Domchoe festival, is performed in the courtyard of the Tashichhodzong.
Everyone is encouraged to witness the sacred masked dances and receive blessings at the Tashichhodzong.

The Longtey Hike

LONGTEY HIKE is one of the most pitureque hike in Gangtey if you are looking for one. The breathtaking Longtey begins with the scenic drive over PELE LA Pass to the Charming Little village of Longtey. LONGTEY VILLAGE is an ancient village located in Sephu Gewog Wangduephodrangat Altitude ranging from 2600m – 3500m. the village is situated en route to Trongsa.
The trail initially takes you through a small village of Longtey where the yak herders put up their camps in the early winter before they move to LAWALA Pass. And up wards through mystifying old-growth rhododendron forest. The Path continues take straight upwards towards village and through the enchanting old-growth of Rhododendron forest for the next two hours. In the winter the valley is splendidly covered by snow. The last part through the forest is slightly steeper up hill until you reach “KAYCHE LA” Pass at 3700 m. Marked by some Prayer flags with impressive view of Gangtey Monastery, Shaedra(Buddhist University) and Phobjikha Valley.
His Majesty The King, accompanied by Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen and Their Royal Highnesses Gyalsey Jigme Namgyel and Gyalsey Ugyen Wangchuck, are in Phuentsholing on a Royal Tour of the southern dzongkhags.
Their Majesties visited Gedu College of Business Studies yesterday enroute to Phuentsholing. This morning, His Majesty visited the College of Science and Technology.
In Audiences to the students and faculty of the colleges, His Majesty said that the way forward for our colleges is to make the students world-ready- that they are competitive in the global market, for a more prosperous future. While work is ongoing to create opportunities and a conducive environment in which our students can excel, His Majesty emphasized that they too must work hard to enhance and diversify their own skills and credentials.
In Phuentsholing, His Majesty granted an Audience to the Dzongkhag and Thromde officials, and visited parts of Phuentsholing, including the Allay checkpost at Pasakha.
His Majesty also visited the Pedestrian Terminal at the Phuentsholing gate, which is scheduled to open on September 23rd. The Terminal, managed by the Department of Immigration, will serve to ensure a safe, well-organized and comfortable passage into and out of Bhutan.
In the evening, Their Majesties and His Royal Highness Gyalsey Jigme Namgyel visited Phuentsholing town and met with the people, who had gathered to meet Their Majesties.
The Prime Minister is accompanying Their Majesties on the Royal Tour.
