Beautiful Architecture of Punakha Dzong in Bhutan has some fascinating characteristics

Bhutan consists of numerous spectacular religious buildings. The most striking feature of the country is the consistency in its architecture. This consistency is seen throughout the Dzongs (fortress), the Lhakhangs (temples), the Chortens (stupas) and even the regular houses. It is an astonishing fact that the architects of Bhutan never used a plan while designing structures and that is one of the most striking features of their craftsmanship.

Dochula Pass of Bhutan

Often a violent history and dark times encourage people to create something inspiring and beautiful, and this is exactly what the people of Bhutan did. They created Dochula Pass, Bhutan in honor of 108 Bhutanese soldiers who died in a 2003 military operation.

Dochula Pass—a beautiful mountain pass, which is about 20 km from Thimphu is a concentration of 108 memorial stupas known as “Druk Wangyal Chortens.” It’s not just a place of historical and religious importance, but also a popular tourist attraction that any traveler would want to witness on their journey through Bhutan.

Life in the Himalayas

The Himalayas is one wonder of nature that has intrigued us since time immemorial. Its high snow-clad mountains, rich flora and fauna, and scenic beauty have enchanted one and all. But in all this, we have somehow missed another wonderful aspect of it – its people

Despite the sometimes harsh conditions, there are people who reside in the Himalayas. The majority of these residents are those who live in the mountain monasteries. With Buddhism, and Hinduism in the region, the mountains can be a perfect location for religious teachings and spiritual exploration. Some monasteries are modern, but many are believed to be more than 1,000 years old

Only Carbon Negative Country in World

Yes, the Kingdom of Bhutan stands out from the crowd. More than 75% of the country is covered in trees. This large amount of tree cover has seen Bhutan becoming a carbon sink – meaning that it absorbs more carbon dioxide than it produces. Bhutan absorbs roughly seven million tons of carbon dioxide annually and only produces less than one million ton.

By 2030 Bhutan plans to reach zero net greenhouse gas admission and to produce zero waste.

The golden statue of Buddha stared down with calm demeanor, wise eyes and gentle smile on his lips- there is no way you could feel anything else but peace. Every angle of this towering Buddha gives a different perspective to admire. The more you look at him, the more details you will discover about this statue.

Do you know why there is coloured prayer flags in Buddhism
Prayer flags are a common sight throughout Bhutan. For hundreds of years, prayer flags have played a major role in the traditions of the Bhutanese people.
The flags come in five different colours – blue, red, green, white and yellow. Each colour represents the five wisdoms of Buddhism and the five basic elements – sky, fire, earth, water and air

-The white prayer flag is for good fortune by purifying negative karma
-The blue prayer flag is for health and longevity.
-The yellow prayer flag is for victory over obstacles.
-The red prayer flag is for fulfilling your wishes.
-The green prayer flag is for compassion.

Prayer flags is considered a good deed and everyone merits from the prayer as the wind blows the prayer through the air

How does turning of the prayer wheel become Dharma practice in Buddhism?

According to Tibetan Buddhist belief, spinning a prayer wheel is just as effective as reciting the sacred texts aloud. For many Buddhists, the prayer wheel also represents the Wheel of the Law (or Dharma) set in motion by the Buddha.

The cylinder contains a sacred text written or printed on paper or animal skin. These texts might be sutra or invocations to particular deities (dharani or mantras).

In Tibetan prayer wheels, the mantra Om Mani Padme Hum is printed in an ancient Indian script or in Tibetan script, usually on the outside as well as on the scroll inside. "Om mani padme hum" is the most important mantra of Buddhism.

Remember the beautiful lines by Osho on Himalayas with this view- Sitting somewhere in the Himalayas, the silence that surrounds you is of the Himalayas, not of you.You have to find your own Himalayas within.

The flight from Kathmandu and Paro is one of the most exciting experiences for any traveller as the route covers four highest mountains of the world. In fine weather, one can enjoy the spectacular view of Mt. Everest, Makalu, Lhotse, and Kangchenjunga.

The Himalayas have attracted for centuries and centuries the mystical people. There is some quality of mystic atmosphere in the Himalayas. No other mountains in the world have that quality – the height, the eternal snow, the silence that has never been broken, paths that have never been trodden. There are some similarities between the Himalayan peaks and the inner consciousness
