The lovely hike takes one through hobbit-like woods, pristine streams and magical landmarks marked by Guru Rinpoche and Daikinis, before culminating in an ascent towards the monastery housing the floating statue.

⭐️Introduction of Incentives for the Tourism Sector 🌟💥

The Royal Government of Bhutan is pleased to announce additional incentives and policy measures to boost the tourism sector. This is in view of the important role of the tourism sector in generating employment; earning foreign exchange; realizing the potential for spillover benefits for ancillary industries; and in boosting overall economic growth.

The incentives and measures shall consist of the following:

1. A fifty percent discount shall be granted on the prevailing SDF of USD 200 for US Dollar paying tourists visiting Bhutan. The effective SDF with the discount shall be USD 100 per person per day for US Dollar paying tourists.

2. In addition, a fifty percent discount on the SDF shall be granted on the rates applied to children aged between 6 to 12 years for US Dollar paying children visiting as tourists.

3. The 24 hours SDF waiver for tourists staying in the border towns shall continue.

The above incentives will come into effect from 1 September 2023 and shall remain effective for four years till 31 August 2027.

The Royal Government shall conduct periodic assessments of the domestic and international tourism scenarios and may discontinue the above incentives to uphold and promote High Value Low Volume Tourism Policy of Bhutan after 31 August 2027.

Bhutan has announced special time-bound incentives to encourage longer stays for US dollar SDF-paying visitors.

From June 1st 2023 to December 31st 2024, visitors can choose from:
1. 4 + 4: Pay the USD 200 SDF per night for the first four nights and get up to four additional nights without the daily levy; or
2. 7 + 7: Pay the USD 200 SDF per night for the first seven nights and enjoy up to seven extra nights without the daily levy; or
3. 12 + 18: Pay the USD 200 SDF per night for the first twelve nights and receive up to eighteen additional nights without the daily levy.

Moreover, visitors can contribute to Bhutan's goal of planting one million new trees. Visitors will be given a tree on their arrival, which will be taken care of by the De-suung national service project.

The annual Rhododendron Festival is back after a hiatus of three years due to the pandemic. The Rhododendron Festival will be held from April 22 – 24 this year at the Royal Botanical Park in Lamperi, about 35km from the capital Thimphu. The three-day festival marks the beginning of spring season, and will feature an exhibition of several types of blooming rhododendron species found in the park. The festival will also feature games, and cultural and entertainment programs, including mask dances, traditional Bhutanese music and dances by the local communities and school children.

The Wangduephodrang Dzong, built by the 17th century unifier of Bhutan Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal sits on a mountain ridge that resembles a sleeping elephant, overlooking the convergence of Dangchhu and Punatsangchhu Rivers. After it was gutted by a fire in June 2012, renovation works began immediately with the entire nation coming together to show their support for the reconstruction. Now, the majestic fortress is restored to its former glory.
