A beautiful weekend for our team at Grassland Safari Lodge, courtesy of Safari Selections Botswana. This amazing lodge in the Kgalagadi region offers a unique safari experience to its guests, and we got to see this with the Bushmen walk. We learned how to live off what nature provides, which various plants to eat and drink from and how to make tools from the branches and stems of the plants.

The game in this area is amazing, offering sightings of Wild Dogs, Eland, Kudu, Impala Wildebeest and a member of the big five, the great Rhinoceros.

We joined the river clean-up campaign in anticipation of the arrival of the flood waters, and together with the different organizations that participated, we made an Impact on the environment. A huge shout out to Wild Bird Trust , SAVE Wildlife Conservation Fund Botswana and The Boela Project Conservation Trust for championing this campaign. We know this is just the beginning of the journey, as caring for our natural resources should be part of our daily routine. Thank you to Everyone who showed up, together we can accomplish great things.

It's WORLD RANGER DAY !! Today we shine a light on the dedicated Scouts and Rangers at Wild Entrust , an organization we have partnered with through our program. Wild Entrust aims to promote the sustainability of threatened and endangered apex predators and their habitats through conflict mitigation and educating Batswana to become skilled conservationists.

The Scouts and Rangers at Wild Entrust conduct daily wildlife monitoring patrols and collaborate with the Departments of Wildlife National Parks and the Botswana Defense Force to enhance law enforcement capacity and safeguard wildlife.
The aim is to combat Anti-poaching, monitor & collect data, and to use wildlife-friendly methods to eliminate human-wildlife conflict.

We Applaud the men and women of the Rangers team at Wild Entrust, and we thank you for your service to safekeeping our Natural Resources.

This week has been one of our favorites, as we and the rest of the world celebrate 'World Female Ranger Week'. Let us introduce you to Senior Wildlife Ranger (2) Nametsegang Goatsiwa, who has been a ranger for 16 years.

Hailing from Serowe where she started her career, Nametsegang later moved to Maun to experience first hand dealing with large Game and being able to see the conservation areas she swore to protect. "Being a female ranger in this industry is surprising to some people, and the most common question I get is, are you not scared of these wild animals? I have overcome my fears because I wanted to be successful and I encourage all women to always go for their dream jobs, even when they are scared," she said.

Nametsegang is proud of how far she has come, from eating Game meat as a young child with no understanding of how hunting works, to now protecting the Natural Resources of our country.

Say hello to Elize Cavill-Taylor, our newly joined Reservations Manager with over 25 years of invaluable experience in the travel industry. From humble beginnings as a relief camp manager at Xakanaxa Camp with the then-called Moremi Safaris, Elize has traversed a dynamic career path, leaving a trail of expertise at esteemed organizations like Tourvest South Africa, Conservation Corporation (now &Beyond), and Siyabona Africa, among others.
Having lived in the Middle East for a spell, Elize boasts extensive tour operating experience across South Africa, Southern Africa, Indian Islands, and East Africa. Beyond the realms of travel, Elize is a devoted family person, married with three children, and a passionate horse rider. When not orchestrating seamless travel experiences, you'll find Elize competing in Western Mounted Games or fulfilling the role of a discerning judge in this exhilarating sport.

It is up to us all to treat each other with dignity and respect regardless of the circumstances, and the Down Syndrome Association of Botswana & Down Syndrome Maun in collaboration with Ministry of Health,Botswana have taken steps to ensure this is true for individuals living with Down Syndrome.

The association recently hosted a workshop in Maun, to empower the parents and caregiver of individuals with Down Syndrome, with the session focusing on; (a) Scientific Education on Down Syndrome, (b) Pointers to caregivers and volunteers on how to raise/take care of their children (c) Motivation by counsellor, on handling the stigma surrounding Down Syndrome, which often leads to mental health issues, (d) Other related issues that were important such as occupational health support and speech therapy.

We would like to thank and encourage all parents and caretakers of individuals living with Down Syndrome, to keep your heads up and to continue to share your love.

Meet The Team

Let us get to know our newest addition to the team, Mpho Precious Segokgo, joining as a Sales Consultant. Commonly referred to as "Precious" in Maun and "Mpho" back home in Tlokweng, she is a graduate from Botswana Accountancy College, who found her inspiration for the travel industry from her upbringing where travel was not very common. Mpho decided to spread her wings to see what the world has to offer outside her village, and with 5years in the industry she believes there so much more to learn. She lives by "Isiah 46:4...I have made you and I will carry you. I will carry you and I will sustain you"

Every year the Maun community gather at the 𝗡𝗵𝗮𝗯𝗲 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘂𝗺 to ring in the festive season by switching on ‘’Tree Of Light’’ and warm up their voices with carols by candlelight. 🎄 Companies and individuals in Maun donate bulbs for the tree in memory and celebration of loved ones, and all proceeds of the event go towards the Golden Years Group Maun , which is a non-profit society who’s priority is to try and ensure the quality of life of senior citizens based in Maun. Black-backed jackals are known to be opportunistic predators and competent scavengers. However they occasionally take the lazy way out, by following larger predators (such as lions, hyenas and leopards) in order to scavenge from their kills.
