Hatha Yoga is a practice that uses the physical body (through asana/postures) to help still the body/mind so that we might experience that same state of Oneness (or Yoga). Students can expect to have postures presented with various options and are encouraged to practice the most appropriate.

My intention is to be authentic in my yoga journey and honour the full depth of the teachings - at the same time, being fully aware of the western, dominate culture from which I come from and the patterns of colonization/appropriation.

The practices westerners now turn to for alternative health were intentionally eradicated from India under colonial rule.

It's a difficult challenge to take on, but it has the potential of shifting your experience of yourself in a very big way. Being real requires that you declare that total, vulnerable, absolute honesty is how you want to live your life from this day forward. It demands that you remain diligently aware and mindful of how you feel, think, judge and live your life in every moment of every day.

You, of course, will have set-backs and may find it very hard to do, but this is only the beginning. This will build, grow and gain momentum. Even though you may think that nothing is happening at first, the mindfulness that you cultivate now will gradually pierce through the reality behind your stress, anxiety and depression.

About the class:
Hatha yoga is a system for quietening the body and mind through physical exercise, breathing techniques and meditation practice. In this six-week Hatha Flow yoga series, participants will learn mindful movement and work to find fluidity with the breath. The practice will end with a short, meditative practice of sitting quietly. This class is suitable for both beginners and more experienced students…the challenge lies in developing your own personal and focused awareness of movement.
