Important Update from our Family:

Over the past few weeks, the weather on the Bay of Fundy has not been favourable for whale watching aboard the Meghan Lorraine and as a result, we've had the heartbreaking responsibility of cancelling many planned trips.

We recognize how disappointing this news can be for those who have booked with us to go whale watching. We also acknowledge that in some cases, on nice weather days, you may be confused as to why your trip was cancelled in the first place.

As is often the case, the weather may be beautiful when you arrive on the island in North Head and the seas may appear calm. This summer, given the location of the humpback whales (the true showboats of the ocean) and their distance south of the island, we are taking guests a long way from the sunny shores of the island and into water that can be unpredictable and subject to different weather systems than what you may see on the island and on the mainland. This is why it's common for it to be business as usual for tour operators out of St. Andrews on days when we are forced to cancel trips due to safety concerns over fog, wind, and high seas.

We're a family-run business. Behind the social media, the phone calls, and the text messages is a family. A family who wants very badly to be out on the water every day, sharing our special part of New Brunswick with our guests.

When we are forced to cancel trips, these decisions not only impact our guests but they impact our family-business and livelihood too. For anyone that has ever suggested we cancelled for our own personal reasons, well, you must not know how much we love to be out on the water. If it is safe to do so, we want to be out there just as much as you do.

And finally, an update on our guarantee.

Effective immediately, we are no longer able to guarantee whale sightings. What we can guarantee is that we will do our absolute best to find whales, including speaking with other captains and vessels in the area and checking different locations. We can also guarantee that you will have a great trip and make some great memories!

Thank you for your understanding and your kindness.

Captain Matthew, Heather, Meghan, Caroline & Addy the Adventure Dog

Happy Birthday Captain Matt! The adorable orca stuffie was a gift (along with homemade brownies and coffee 😍) from a special group of passengers this morning. The ugly orange Yeti is from his family with the hopes it’ll stick around longer than most of our coffee vessels. 😉 Matt and guests had a great trip this morning; exactly how he wanted to spend his special day.

A little about us...

Always Adventuring

Since the girls were born, we’ve taken them on “adventures”. Sometimes they had specific destinations, sometimes it was all up to fate. No matter the weather, we would pack up snacks, dress accordingly and go off. In the truck, on a four wheeler, or a Carolina skiff. We explored nature and all our island has to offer - both on land and from the sea. Summers have been spent with family on the Carolina skiff, exploring caves and inlets, fishing off the side, watching the sheep on Long Island, or just listening to the sea life “talk” through our hydrophone. To our girls, this is normal, everyday stuff - seeing whales blow and play, pointing out the various seabirds and sea animals, catching jellyfish to study before letting them go. It may be a daily occurrence for them, but we realized it wasn’t for most others. Some have never caught a sunset from the boat, watched a puffin swim by, see the birds on the numerous little islands. So we decided to find a bigger boat and start offering others the opportunity to join us on an adventure! Matthew is an island boy with generations of relatives who call Grand Manan home. As a commercial diver and a lobster fisherman, Matt has spent the majority of his life on the water. I’m originally from Sussex, but found I have salt water in my veins. Our oldest, Meghan, loves anything to do with nature and marine life. Caroline is 5 and a force to be reckoned with. We hope to have one or all of us on every tour so you too can experience a Lambert family adventure and all that it entails.
