Lake Temiskaming offers some of the best ice fishing in Northern Ontario. The lake itself spans almost 300sq km and is over 700ft deep in some places. It is actually part of the Ottawa River System and was a well travelled root by early explorers and settlers. Native to many freshwater species, ice fishing "villages" are found all over the lake most notably near the New Liskeard and Haileybury marinas. If you want to come to Temiskaming Shores to experience this great pastime, consider staying at The Wabi River House in the heart of New Liskeard.

The historic Haileybury Golf Course has been operating in the Temiskaming Shores area since 1921. It is a 9 hole course located at the top of the Haileybury escarpment offering spectacular views of beautiful Lake Temiskaming from many of the greens. Carts are available and the rates are very reasonable.
