Day three is here! Round 3, also known as the Round of 16, the competition functions as a single-elimination, head-to-head bracket. Each heat will feature two surfers, with the winner advancing to the next round and the loser getting eliminated. The losers of the two semifinal heats will compete in the bronze-medal match. Tune into NBC to catch the action at 1pm EST for men's and 5:45pm for women's.
Round two of Olympic surfing gets underway today! Teahupo'o wave has measured 8 to 10 feet high for a pro competition in May and at other times have exceeded 20 feet. Well wishes to the competitors today. Tune into NBC at 1pm EST for women's and 5:45pm EST for men's round two.
Welcome to day one of Paris 2024 Olympic Surfing! Teahupo'o welcomes 48 surfers- 24 men and 24 women. Of Team France's four qualified surfers, two are from French Polynesia: Kauli Vaast—22 years old, from Tahiti; and Vahiné Fierro—24, from Huahine. It will feature eight more athletes than the lineups at Tokyo 2020, where the sport made its Olympic debut. Tune into NCB at 1pm EST for the men's and 5:45pm EST for the women's round one.
