The Comfort Center at 63 King St in Shelburne will be open at 4:00PM today for a couple hours for residents to charge phones, etc. if needed.

Take caution if you are leaving your home, lots of branches and debris on the roadways.

Stay safe.

The calm before the storm. Please prepare your properties and plan for potential prolonged utility outages.

Similar storms have brought:

✔️Storm surge, waves and flooding. Stay away from coastal areas. If you live on the coastline, consider alternate accommodations during the storm.

✔️ Damaging winds - Stay indoors. Secure loose items on your property. Park vehicles away from power lines and trees.

✔️Prolonged utility outages - Have devices charged, batteries on hand, easy grab and non perishable food, flashlights, gas and cash.

✔️Heavy Rain - stay indoors. If you must be on the roads, never drive through flood waters!

Be prepared and stay safe!

Not that we are encouraging the starting of fires...... but, it is happy to see the risk level is down.

Thankfully, Welshtown Haven Inc. is unscathed by the recent difficulties. Not all were so lucky. When visiting South Shore this summer, please keep in mind that they have had a ruff spring.

Wednesday, June 14th - 2023:

The province wide ban on outside fires was previously lifted.

COUNTIES IN YELLOW:

Burning is only allowed between 7:00 pm and 8:00 am the following day (burning is not allowed before 7:00 pm)

COUNTIES IN GREEN:

Burning is allowed between 2:00 pm and 8:00 am the following day

Please be advised, per DNRR:

"During wildfire risk season (15 March to 15 October), no domestic brush burning or campfires are allowed between 8:00 am and 2:00 pm, except industrial permits. Burn restrictions are updated daily at 2:00 pm (you also need to follow municipal bylaws for your area)."

All Municipal parks and trails have reopened including Welkum Park, Roseway River Trail, Jordan River Trail, Tom Tigney Trail and the Sable River Footbridge Trail. The provincewide restrictions on travel and activities in the woods were lifted as of yesterday afternoon.
