Here is a little bit about ‘Out of the Woods’, the opening act for the Cougar Annie Tales show being held at the Sooke Region Museum on Wednesday, August 28, 2024.

Patty Castle and BP Clarke started playing music together in five years ago, comprising two-thirds of the now-retired Victoria alt-folk trio Ozmoses. They reformed and re-emerged from the pandemic as Out of the Woods, an acoustic duo focused on sweet vocal harmonies supported by Patty on stand-up bass and flute, BP on guitar and harmonica. Out of the Woods combines Patty’s folk rock “Woodstock” sensibilities with BP’s blues, country and Americana influences to create a sound that is both thoughtful and soulful, with songs that make you tap your feet and lyrics that make you think.

We hope to see you there!

Local Sooke singer/songwriter/performer Kat Kadoski lived in Clayoquot Sound for three years caretaking Cougar Annie’s garden and immersing herself in the folklore surrounding the legendary pioneer-settler. Drawing upon many sources, including Annie’s family, COUGAR ANNIE uses dramatic narrative, images, letters, and original compositions to celebrate the unconventional life of one of BC’s most colourful characters.
