It's OPEN!! The Riu Palace Aquarelle has opened its doors as the hotel chain’s seventh hotel in Jamaica, where the chain began operations in 2001.The property is RIU Hotels & Resorts chain’s first establishment in Falmouth, the capital of Trelawny parish, located 35 minutes from Montego Bay airport and two hours from Kingston.
Offered exclusively by Sunwing in Canada, the new 5-star, 24-hour all-inclusive hotel has 753 rooms and caters to families or groups of friends with 180 triple rooms and 26 family suites. The swim-up suites on the first floor offer panoramic views of the Caribbean.
When they enter their room at the Hotel Riu Palace Aquarelle, guests will find a tastefully decorated, spacious and bright area equipped with everything they need to enjoy a comfortable stay. Earthy colours and organic motifs play a starring role, with simple furniture and decoration. Virtually every room offers a view of the Caribbean Sea.
In the restaurant area, six venues offer a wide range of dining options: the main buffet White Bay, gourmet restaurant Krystal, Italian restaurant Napoli, Asian restaurant Kyoto, the grill Steakhouse and the jerk style grill Pepe's food.

Falmouth is a town of great historical and cultural importance. It was founded in 1769 and flourished thanks to its role in the sugar and rum trade. The town also boasts the enormous White Bay beach with white sand and crystal-clear waters, making it a privileged spot for water sports and outdoor activity enthusiasts.
Thanks to the 400-kilowatt-peak (kWp) solar power system made up of 795 photovoltaic panels installed on the roof, the hotel will be able to generate up to 470,000 kilowatt hours (kWh) of clean energy per year. This green initiative will cut down the hotel's energy consumption by 5-10%.which will in turn reduce CO2 emissions by approximately221,482 kilograms per year.

I started my travel career because I really didn’t have a plan or knew what I wanted to be when I grew up. I enrolled in Travel and Tourism at Sheridan College and graduated in their 2 year program. I still didn’t know what I wanted to be and I had never been on a aircraft so I thought hey why not become a flight attendant. I applied to all the airlines and got hired by Nationair Canada. I didn’t know a thing about the industry I was 19 years old but it turned out to be the start of a career I fell in love with. My first flight was to Montreal then onwards to Paris!! I spent a month in Paris getting paid to be on vacation. Can you imagine at 19 years old, what an experience!! I flew all over Europe and Africa that summer and have not regretted a moment in this industry since.
After my flying season , my airline shut down and I started working at the Toronto International Airport. I started at Sunquest Vacations as an airport representative. I worked horrible hours for years , starting at 0300 am and finishing at 1000 am. Still the best times, flying away for weekends or even one night just to get away . Working with people that have become friends for life.
Eventually this brought me to the sales side of the business as Air Canada agents always asking us for deals on Sunquest Vacations. We opened the first Interline Sales office in Toronto Pearson for all airport employees to get discounts on packages. Our competitors soon followed as they saw how much business this generated. We grew this division of Sunquest into one of the most profitable departments in the company.
In 2004 we started to hear about this little company called Sunwing Vacations. I thought maybe it was time to move on from Sunquest.
I approached Sunwing and told the owner Stephen Hunter about our department and what we could do for Sunwing. He hired me immediately and 2 weeks later I was running the most successful airport interline / family and friends department in Toronto Pearson Airport. When I started Sunwing only had 60 employees. They have grown to over 15000 employees and I am proud to be part of their success story. After 14 years with them I decided to branch on my own but continue to support and sell their brand. Recently acquiring additional agents to work along side me, Alena and Mary are now part of the Friends and Family Team!
