Mount Ozzard. offers an incredible view of where we live. To the East the incredible Broken Group of Islands in Barkley Sound. You can see where Bamfield is, our closest neighbour on the other side of the Deer group of Islands. Cape Beale becomes visable to the east. Then on the hazy horizon to the south east, the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State apears, we are that close to the the USA. To the south ,you can see a very miniscule part of the massive Pacific Ocean, the largest on the planet. Then the George Frasier Islands appear. Sailing past them gives Ucluelet access to all the oceans of the world. Ucluelet (pronounced (you-KLEW-let) is a local First Nations word meaning "people with a safe place to land". Such a beautiful safe place to be, on the edge of the Pacific. Then Florencia Bay and Long Beach present themselves in Pacif Rim National Park . The West shows us glimpes of Meares Island and Tofino. The mountains with the glaciers, waterfalls and rainforest are to the north. . On a clear day this is what we can shown you from the Water Dragon, WestCoast Wilds classic Cessna 180 Floatplane.

During our survey today we heard a distress call asking for help with an overturned Kayaker in Barkley Sound. We decided to go help with the rescue efforts by helping spot the Kayaker from the air so the boats nearby could pick him up. Well done and great effort by all the crews out there 😃 He was rescued within minutes of the call going out! ✈️
Another interesting creature in the waters of Palau. A Moray eel. This video was taken on a dive with my new friend William Ring from San Diego Underwater Photophraphy Society. Bill is an Iron Man 78 years old and still diving strong.Thanks Bill! you have been a great inspiration.

What an amazing day yesterday, Louis, Jesse and I went out to the Zipline course to check on a few things...Joe Martin, Ryan, and Joshua working on a 25 ft Chupitz (traditional Tla-o-qui-aht dugout canoe) and how the course faired over the winter.
