10C - Lake Baikal, Siberia, Russia

Going to Russia right now is probably not the best idea, however there are some great shots expressing what a spectacular marvel travelling there in the winter can be.

Eventually, when things are calm / at peace again, it’s definitely worth it to travel here and visit the “Sacred Sea” as the locals call it.

The deepest and oldest lake in the world (at 1,642 m (5,387 ft) deep), becomes exceptionally magnificent in the winter creating unique ice sculptures and patterns.

During the winter it also transforms into a 12,200-square-mile ice rink. You can also rent a dog sled or snowmobile for extra fun and explore the main spectacular cave formations!
