It’s time for ZONG! ✨
Zongzi (Chinese: 粽子; pronounced ZOHNG-zih), also known as rouzong (Chinese: 肉粽) or simply zong, is a traditional Chinese dish featuring glutinous rice filled with various ingredients and wrapped in bamboo leaves. Fillings range from sweet, such as red bean paste, to savory, like pork belly or Chinese sausage. Typically, Indocalamus tessellatus bamboo is used for wrapping, although reed or other large leaves are sometimes employed. Zongzi can be cooked by either steaming or boiling. While often translated as rice dumplings or sticky rice dumplings in English, the Chinese government has officially designated Zongzi as the recognized global name.
Would you have sweet or savory? 😋✨

Floata Restaurant Group, with headquarter in Hong Kong, operates several restaurants in that city, China and Canada respectively. After the success of the first Floata Seafood Restaurant in Hong Kong, Floata Group stepped into the Canadian Market with the 380-seats Floata Seafood Restaurant in Richmond in 1992 that was the first in the Greater Vancouver area to provide VIP rooms equipped with karaoke systems.
Since then, the Chinatown project is the second and most ambitious venture of Floata Group. The 1,000-seats Chinatown Floata Seafood Restaurant is the biggest Chinese Restaurant in Canada, located in the heart of Chinatown with secured parking lot.
Floata’s large floor space is fully dividable into separate rooms with the movable partition walls, each with their own sound system. Since it’s one big room designed without any column in the middle of dining hall, Floata is an ideal venue for weddings, seminars, business meetings and theme functions.

Do you know that Pender street used to call Dupont Street?
-
1906 Dupont Street Until 1907 East Pender was known as Dupont Street and was home to the city’s red light district. By day it was a busy commercial thoroughfare at the entrance to Chinatown.

Congratulations to Robert Sung for being featured in a Financial Times UK article titled “A Tour of Vancouver’s Chinatown” after more than 15 years.
A deep — and delicious — dive into the past and present of a storied neighbourhood
🔗 Full article link in Bio
Article Summary:
The article explores Vancouver‘s Chinatown through the eyes of Robert Sung, a third-generation Chinese Canadian and the city’s Chinatown ambassador. Sung‘s tours offer a blend of culinary delights and cultural insights, starting from the Dr Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden.
This Ming Dynasty garden serves as a backdrop for explaining the pillars of Chinese culture: Daoism, Confucianism, and Buddhism. Sung delves into the history of Chinese immigration to Vancouver, dating back to the gold rush and the construction of the Canadian Pacific Railway, highlighting the challenges and discrimination faced by Chinese immigrants.
Despite adversity, community hubs like Chinatown emerged, providing support and services. The tour showcases iconic Chinatown spots like Chinatown BBQ, New Town Bakery, and traditional herbal medicine shops, offering participants a taste of authentic Chinese cuisine and cultural experiences.
