Mama Cathy Belanger neé Blatz would’ve been 92 today. I miss her every day. She brought so much love and joy and kindness to so many people with her tireless and elaborate home-cooked meals, exquisite watercolours, expert gardening and community service. We would have spent today’s precious sunshine at Abkhazi Gardens, her favourite venue to enjoy a special meal and the glory of the rhodos and other early spring blooms that she painted with such child-like wonder & care.

Do you know anyone who urgently needs a ride or a delivery of goods around Victoria or Cowichan on Vancouver Island?

We are happy to donate our services to those in urgent need and have a couple of commercially-licensed long range EVs, one of which can tow up to 6000 lbs.

In fact, we just drove to Swift Current, SK to help a new friend get across the Rockies safely before the big storm to complete his mission and ride his electric motorbike across Canada and back without the use of fossil fuels.

Last week’s deluge and ensuing windstorm blew down a 50+ year old Doug Fir whose shallow roots couldn’t anchor themselves west under our driveway.

Thanks to RPF Alex & Larry of the deep woods for their expert felling and bucking guidance that allowed us to right the stump with safety and even grace, too.

Dan and his bike are doing fine and have made the safe choice to allow me to es**rt them over the Rockies through the first of this year’s winter driving conditions in our Tesla Model X 90D with Pirelli Scorpion 🦂 winter tires, all-wheel drive, and Tesla’s incomparable traction control and electric towing capacity. We will not be able to use autopilot while towing, but it will help me avoid driver fatigue en route to REVVY (Revelstoke, BC) as I prepare to take on Rogers Pass after yet another overnight snowfall.

She just about literally kicked the bucket one year ago yesterday and went out on her own terms, leaving a family legacy and a gaping hole where here love of us & flowers & birds & expressions of her love like baking, cooking & her exquisite watercolour painting used to be. Miss you, mom. The trouble with mothers is, they’re always right. 🖤

This is the motorbike smile of satisfaction my girlfriend and I shared after spending a week riding 2500 km together on BC’s most scenic & twisty highways and backroads on her classic Suzuki SVS and my modern Kawasaki Versys.
