This Is Àdios.

After 9 years working day and night to promote Cartagena and Colombia this is the end of the road for This Is Cartagena and This Is Colombia Travel.
It’s been quite a journey. Since we first launched in November 2011, the This Is family has had a blast helping more than 2 million people fall in love with the city that we’re lucky enough to call home.
Unfortunately, all good things come to an end and it’s time to move on.
An enormous thank you to all the people that made This Is Cartagena and This Is Colombia Travel by dedicating their talent and time to take such great care of our guests.
A huge hug to all of the lovely people that visited Colombia and left a little bit of themselves in the city.
It might be the end of the road for This Is Cartagena and This Is Colombia Travel but we urge you all to please come back, when we can travel again, and help this amazing city and country get back on track.
We have nothing but gratitude for all the lessons learned on the way. Here’s to a new dawn.

This Is a Very Good Initiative. Go straight to the source. Buy healthy produce from farmers in Montes de Maria to give it to people who need it in Cartagena. Donors required to make it happen.

Life goes on. We might be having a tough time but Non-humans are loving this. Plants and animals are recovering their habitats the world over. This video was taken in Bahia Solano, on the Pacific Coast of Colombia.

Hopefully we'll remember that we share the planet with others when we emerge from our self-isolation.

This Is 4U Cartagena was born out of a need to do something to help Cartagena in this unprecedented moment in time. There are going to be so many difficult problems to solve that all of us are going to have to start the healing somewhere.

This Is Cartagena has started by creating a forum for people to find each other and be able to offer support if they can or ask for help if they need it. It’s an open platform, feel free to post if you can; either a) "OFFERING" something i.e. time, money or other resources, or are b) "IN SEARCH OF" something urgently.

It’s simple - post and add the tag “In Search of” if you need something or “offering” if you are in a position to help.
Please share the group with your friends in Cartagena and beyond, friends and families, people that have been to Cartagena and might be interested in doing something to help. We need to collaborate to alleviate the unprecedented difficulties Cartagena faces now and will face in the future. Together we can do much more.

Please join team This Is 4U Cartagena campaign and reach out to give someone a helping hand

Some people look out the window and see a crisis. Others get creative. Others, like La Chechi, start to heal through their creativity. La Chechi, as she's known, used to teach the prisoners of San Diego Women's Prison to cook for their transformational prison restaurant and now she's the one who's been confined. That ain't stopping her from spreading her infectious feel-good vibes. Along with her colleagues she's started a movement that helps through her IG followers to cook easy and delicious meals with whatever they have on hand at home. Promoting self-love, wellbeing, saving money and celebrating the goodness of healthy eating, wouldn't it be great if everyone had La Chechi's outlook on how to turn scraps into magic?

What are you cooking tomorrow? Let us know what's on the menu at your place or what you're doing to help heal Cartagena? This Is 4U Cartagena

PARE! 🚫 (STOP in Spanish)
When nothing goes right. Turn Left!

The streets of Cartagena used to be filled with people enjoying the city's colonial charms. Not any more! This virus turned the entire world upside down. Cartagena relies on tourism to keep food on the table for 30% of the city's population.

Life's about to get very difficult for a lot of people. Like everyone, This Is Cartagena has been hit but we're not giving up hope, just channelling our energy differently. We're still here to help Good People Do Great Things. More than ever! We've created a Facebook group This Is 4U Cartagena which aims to connect those that can help with people that need their help most. It's a start.

If you have travelled to Cartagena and want to help or if you're a business in Cartagena that wants to get involved in helping the city in this difficult time please join us at: This Is 4U Cartagena https://www.facebook.com/groups/4ucartagena

24/03/2020

This Is 4U Cartagena is looking for people that can offer their help to re-build Cartagena after the shock of ZERO visitors to the local economy. If you have something you can do for the city then please join this group and leave a post labelled. "Offering" This is for people that are able to offer their time, support of financial aid to help with the needs of the city

There's light at the end of the tunnel. 🔆
Cartagena, like much of the world, is under lock down. Curfew here lasts from 18:00 to 05:00 and all day at weekends. Nobody's allowed onto the streets at all except emergency forces.
Juan Londoño took these eery images last night. 📸

Normally the city would be filled with fun-loving hedonists well into the early hours. Those frivoluos days (and nights) already seem like another era, like something from the pages of a Gabriel Garcia Marquez novel. This city has seen more difficult times in its history. It's lived through sieges, bloody attacks by pirates, plagues. It's going to take more than a virus to beat La Heroica.
We might not be out on the street but we're still here! ☀️💪🇨🇴

18/03/2020

This is hard for all of us but it's harder for some than others. The UN estimates that 1 in 10 of the world's population depends on tourism to make a living. In Cartagena the number is higher - 30%. Most of those people aren't getting a pay check this month. Most of them don't ever get a pay check - they have to scrape what money they can together on a day-to-day basis. The city's closed for business for a month at least. It's hard for them to stay home when they have nothing. If you can help ease their pain then please do 🙏🏻
If you can help then please do. Our local partner, Domino Volunteers, is doing what they can to ensure the help gets to where its needed most. Contact Domino Volunteers Cartagena for more information

//
