Let s show you Santo Antão Island

We are located on the island of Santo Antão Cape Verde and our strong point is tourism of mountains. Santo Antão is one of the most beautiful islands in Cape Verde and it is known as the island of the mountains. It is the most northern island of the archipelago with a surface of ​​779 km2 with a population of about 50,000 inhabitants, in which the majority is young people. The island’s strongest sectors are tourism, agriculture, and fishing. The island was divided into three municipalities: Ribeira Grande, Paul and Porto Novo, and four cities, two in the municipality of Ribeira Grande: Ribeira Grande city and Ponta do Sol city, Paul Pombas city and Porto Novo city in Porto Novo. The highest point on the island is the Topo de Coroa with 1979 metres high and it is located in Porto Novo, and the second highest peak is Pico da Cruz with 1560 metres high located in Paul. We just can’t forget about our beautiful capital, Ribeira Grande, where there are several Portuguese style houses since because of the Portuguese influence. Porto Novo is the driest part of the island because there is not enough water but for the mountain lovers visitors it is a big opportunity to see and appreciate the contrast of the mountains with red, brown, black and white colors, which is a particularity of the island. Ribeira Grande and Paul are the greenest part with abundant water and vegetation of different species specially the most cultivated one, the famous sugar cane which is use to make the most famous product of the island, grog.

Meet our tour guide​ VANDERLEY After 3 years of military service in 2010 I decided to work on tourism. I started as a mini bus driver and as I interacted a lot with French and English people I soon learned how to speak French and English. Being a professional driver for five years, 2010 – 2015, gave me the chance to practise a lot with the visitors and only at the end of 2015 I found out about the gift and passion of being a tour guide in the mountains of the Island of Santo Antão and I got trained as a professional mountain guide as well as first aid training. At the beginning of 2016 I had my first job as a guide in the mountains. With all the experiences I achieved during these years, until 2019, I decided to create this small and local site in order to be able to have my own clients and also to show everything I learned and everything I know as a tour guide for trekking lovers.
