Located in Arabella Country Club, The Nest offers a safe, friendly and healthy learning environment essential for children’s learning and development. The large sunny outdoor area and unique tree house, the naturally lit indoor area, the purposefully designed classroom set up, the intentionally selected learning materials as well as our intentional teaching style, maximize children’s learning and development across developmental domains. Safety, Health & Cleanliness:
Knowing that young children are natural scientists who experience the world through all five senses, we ensure that our indoor and outdoor premises as well as all learning materials are non-toxic, childproof and hazard free. To further ensure the safety of children security cameras are installed throughout the premises. A strict procedure for drop off and pick up applies allowing only authorized individuals to enter the premises. A pediatrician examines children’s general medical state on a regular basis, and provides parents with a written report. All team members have received first aid training to ensure your child’s safety. Nutrition:
Healthy eating and good table manners are important for the development of young children. At The Nest we offer three healthy & balanced meals including breakfast, warm lunch and an afternoon snack. All meals are low in sugar, salt, and fat, and include a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables. Plenty of water is also provided throughout the day. All meals are prepared by Arabella Club House’s 5-Star Gourmet Kitchen and under close supervision of The Nest’s management. We do our best to adapt to the requirements of children with food allergies. Communication with Parents:
Parent involvement and participation is vital in this program. Parents act as the children’s first teachers and are vital partners in the educational process. The Nest keeps an open channel of communication with parents through several modes:
• Daily notes are sent to every parent via e-mail documenting: food, sleep, toileting, mood, and the activities undertaken by the children.
• The weekly newsletter is sent out to all parents via e-mail to ensure that families are kept abreast with all learning objectives & outcomes as well as with upcoming events.
• Every month the pediatrician’s report is sent to parents.
• Every three months a full developmental report is created, assessing the child’s cognitive, social, communicative, and physical development. Director Qualifications:
Laila Zaki, the school’s director & main classroom teacher, has a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education from Columbia University, New York, and taught at leading early childhood centers in the city of New York. Prior to that, she was Nestlé Egypt’s brand manager for the take home ice cream range. She graduated with highest honors from the American University in Cairo with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. Before that, she completed the German Abitur from the German school in Cairo (DEO).
