Enjoy interior visits to Sagrada Familia church and La Pedrera (Casa Mila). A great excursion full of color, cultural and unique architecture. Your excursion begins adjacent to the Sagrada Familia just a 20-minute taxi ride from your Barcelona cruise pier where you will be greeted by your excursion staff. You will walk with your guide to the basilica yards away and begin an interior visit. Known simply as Sacred Family, Gaudi designed the church in a Latin cross plan with five aisles. The vaults reach a height of 230 feet and every corner seems to be filled with extremely rich ornamentation and symbolism. This is unlike any other church you may have seen. You will also visit the Sagrada Familia museum, where you will see drawings, plaster models and pictures about the history and development of this basilica from its early beginnings to the present day. Total time at Sagrada Familia is approximately 45 minutes. Next, you will join the Barcelona Gaudi and La Pedrera group and drive to Park Guell, located 20 minutes away on a hillside overlooking the city. Started in 1900, this urban housing development is a perfect example of Gaudi's Catalan modernism during its nature phase. Unfortunately, due to finances and a lack of interest by the public, the development was never finished. Now the park is full of unusual shapes and sculptures, mosaic artwork, and large gardens. No Gaudi excursion would be complete without seeing two of his most creative works - Casa Mil and Casa Batllo. Casa Mila, (known as La Pedrera) is an apartment complex of two buildings designed in a constant curve. There are very few right angles inside or out. An exterior visit is made before walking down the street to Casa Batllo, the Bone House. Like anything Gaudi designed, it is unique and a mix of Modernism or Art Nouveau but only in the broadest sense. With vivid iridescent colors and curved shapes, there are surprises everywhere...even on the roof! Your excursion ends with the exterior visit to Casa Batllo (Passeig de Gracia #43) From here it is a leisurely 10 minute walk to Placa Catalunya, six blocks away or you can catch a taxi or subway to another area of town. French and German guides available on Fridays only. This portion of the excursion is approximately 3.5 hours. PLEASE NOTE: Your excursion includes a Skip the Line ticket and Audio Guide to Casa Mila (La Pedrera) which you will receive at the beginning of the excursion. (This is a separate ticket from your excursion ticket) Both Casa Mila and Casa Batllo close at 08:00 PM and your excursion will end approximately 07:30 PM. 30 minutes is not enough time to see either interior, but you may use your Skip the Line pass on your second day. DO NOT BOOK THIS EXCURSION IF YOU WILL NOT BE IN BARCELONA THE FOLLOWING DAY. There is no refund for unused Skip the Line tickets. We suggest you plan on a minimum of 90 minutes so you can see the apartment, courtyards and roof. If you wish to visit Casa Batllo, please allow a minimum of 60 minutes. The audio guide at La Pedrera is available in Catalan, Spanish, English, French, Portuguese, German, Italian, Russian, Euskera and Galician.
