Our Dad bought the house in the village Fornalutx in Mallorca on the day I was born - June 22nd, 1962. It is a very old house in the Traumuntana Mountains. The village is built into the mountain, and has no roads other than one in and one out really. To get from the Plaza to the house you have to go up 81 stairs. It is not steep, as the steps were made for donkeys to use. Fornalutx is a proper working village with a bakery, small supermarket, pharmacy, cafés and several excellent restaurants within a 10 minute walking distance! You will need a car to stay there, but there are lots of car parks. The driving is much easier than people imagine. The house is 45 minutes from the airport. The house has 3 bedrooms, one with a four poster bed, it comfortably sleeps 6. There is a large roof terrace with views of mountains all around. There are 2 bathrooms, one has a bath which is pretty rare in Fornalutx! There is original tiled flooring in most of the house and a large airy space for children to play in on the third floor.
It is a 15 minute drive to the nearest beach in the Puerto de Soller. The beach is sandy and safe for children. There are various water sports on offer. Please do look up Fornalutx on Google for photos, there are loads of brilliant ones!
Sorry, should have added that there is no internet, no phone and a never used portable tv. All deliberately done to allow for a digital detox!
However most of the cafes and restaurants have it!
All bedding and towels, including beach towels are provided, and the price includes cleaning before and after your stay. There is a washing machine too. Don't know if you have any pianists in the family as there are 2 pianos too!
If you prefer a pool to the sea, the municipal pool is on the way to the beach! Open air and surrounded by orange groves and mountains too!
