Last Sunday we had hiking adventure to Wenchi Crater Lake. Our group had an amazing time exploring the natural beauty of the area and creating unforgettable memories together.
As we made our way up the trail, we were surrounded by stunning scenery at every turn. The lush forests, rolling hills, and crystal-clear lake created a peaceful and serene atmosphere that was truly rejuvenating. Our guests were able to disconnect from their busy lives and connect with nature in a meaningful way.

We returned to Addis Ababa after our two day overnight trip to Awash National Park and Doho Lodge.
Our visit to Awash National Park, as well as an unforgettable evening at the beautiful Doho Lodge, highlighted by a campfire.

Chebera Churchura National Park

Chebera Churchura is a newly established National Park located in Konta Woreda, Dawro Zone. It is 480 km south of Addis on the Addis–Jimma-Chida-Ameya road. It has a total area of 11,900 ha and elevations range from 500-2000 m asl.

Rainfall ranges from 1200 mm to 2300 mm per annum and temperature ranges from 10 to 29 °C. Wet seasons are from March to September and the dry season extends from December to February.

Four major vegetation zones, grasslands, woodlands, mountain forests and riverine forests, have been described for the area. Dominant woody vegetation includes Ficus spp., Combretum spp., Ehertia spp and Albizia spp. The natural forests have non-timber forest products of economic value including Coffee, Coriander and Piper sp.

Chebera Churchura provides refuge to 37 species of larger mammals. Besides Elephants, the park has populations of Buffalo, Greater Kudu, Defassa Waterbuck, Lion, Leopard, Serval Cats, Hippopotamus and Warthog. It also has 140 species of birds of which 5 are endemic to the country.

Chebera Churchura NP harbours over 400 Elephants in different herds. The Zigna River, several lakes, waterfalls including a hot spring form hydrological features in the park. The Zigna River is an important tributary of the Omo River. The presence of natural caves is an added attraction.

ጨበራ ጩርጩራ ብሔራዊ ፓርክ:
ጨበራ ጩርጩራ በዳውሮ ዞን በኮንታ ወረዳ አዲስ የተመሰረተ ብሔራዊ ፓርክ ነው። ከአዲስ–ጅማ-ጭዳ-አመያ መንገድ በስተደቡብ 480 ኪሎ ሜትር ርቀት ላይ ይገኛል። በጠቅላላው 11,900 ሄክታር ስፋት ያለው ሲሆን ከፍታው ከ 500-2000 ሜ. የዝናብ መጠን በዓመት ከ1200 እስከ 2300 ሚ.ሜ እና የሙቀት መጠኑ ከ10 እስከ 29 ዲግሪ ሴንቲ ግሬድ ይደርሳል። እርጥብ ወቅቶች ከመጋቢት እስከ መስከረም እና ደረቁ ወቅት ከታህሳስ እስከ የካቲት ድረስ ይዘልቃል. ለአካባቢው አራት ዋና ዋና የእጽዋት ዞኖች፣ የሣር ሜዳዎች፣ የጫካ ቦታዎች፣ የተራራ ደኖች እና የወንዞች ደኖች ተገልጸዋል። የበላይ የሆኑ የእንጨት እፅዋት Ficus spp., Combretum spp., Ehertia spp እና Albizia sppን ያጠቃልላል. የተፈጥሮ ደኖች ቡና፣ ኮሪንደር እና ፓይፐር ስፒን ጨምሮ ኢኮኖሚያዊ ጠቀሜታ ያላቸው የእንጨት ያልሆኑ የደን ውጤቶች አሏቸው። ጨበራ ጩራጩራ ለ 37 ትላልቅ አጥቢ እንስሳት መጠጊያ ይሰጣል። ከዝሆኖች በተጨማሪ ፓርኩ ጎሽ፣ ግሬተር ኩዱ፣ ደፋሳ ዋተርባክ፣ አንበሳ፣ ነብር፣ ሰርቫል ድመቶች፣ ጉማሬ እና ዋርቶግ ነዋሪዎች አሉት። በተጨማሪም 140 የአእዋፍ ዝርያዎች ያሉት ሲሆን ከእነዚህ ውስጥ 5ቱ በሀገሪቱ የሚገኙ ናቸው። ጨበራ ጩርጩራ በተለያዩ መንጋ ከ400 በላይ ዝሆኖችን ወደብ ይይዛል። የዚግና ወንዝ፣ በርካታ ሀይቆች፣ ፏፏቴዎች ፍልውሃ ምንጭን ጨምሮ በፓርኩ ውስጥ የሀይድሮሎጂ ባህሪያት ናቸው። የዚግና ወንዝ የኦሞ ወንዝ ወሳኝ ገባር ነው። የተፈጥሮ ዋሻዎች መኖራቸው ተጨማሪ መስህብ ነው.

Our day trip to Wonchi Lake was very attractive and fun. By hiking in the beautiful landscape, horse riding and boating; We had a amazing time bathing in the natural hot springs and mud bath . We also had the opportunity to swim in the pristine and beautiful lake. Overall our trip was very amazing and memorable. We express our heartfelt gratitude to all the our families who have been with us and to all the parties who have cooperated with us in the success of the journey. Stay safe until we meet again.

The past five years have seen Borana ravaged by drought. A mainly pastoralist community, the Borana have lost most of their cattle which they depend on for their livelihoods in the drought. Today, the Borana who are known to nurture their cattle have no food to feed themselves or their children. They need our help.

Therefore, in collaboration with the Oromia Tourism Commission, Tour and Event has organized a charity trip meant to help us do our part for our people in Borana.
