Liyu Ethiopia Food Tour
We visit multiple eateries on our walking food tours and emphasise each one's signature dish. Each dish has its own history and tradition, and our guides will fill you in on both. From posh restaurants to more casual dives, there's a wide spectrum of dining options.
We stroll between each stop on a food tour, which is concentrated in one neighbourhood. We walk for about 45 to 60 minutes overall. The tour is about four hours long, and we'll make sure you're full by providing food and beer the whole way.
What does it cover?
Located between Addis Abeba's two market districts, 6 kilo and Jal meda, is Atikilt tera, the city's largest vegetable and fruit market.

The Kara People: A Vast Tapestry of Heritage

The Kara people of the Lower Omo River region use elaborate headdresses, body scarification, and body painting as forms of self-expression and cultural value in their ceremonies, which are steeped in rich cultural symbolism. The volcano erupted in the Tertiary period of the Cenozoic Era, leaving behind its gorgeous legacy. About a thousand years ago, a volcano erupted, leaving behind an uneven rock crater that is today adorned with verdant greenery. A vast lake, dotted with smaller islands, a network of hot mineral springs, cascading waterfalls, picturesque valleys, and farms make up the entire crater. The location is even more captivating and alluring because of an ancient monastery with a church situated on one of the islands in the lake.

Liyu Ethiopia day trip

A visit to Wenchi Crater Lake would be a wonderful way to spend a weekend getaway. Located halfway between Ambo and Weliso, 155 kilometres west of Addis Abeba, is Wenchi Crater Lake. Beautiful valleys, agriculture, a huge lake, hot mineral springs, waterfalls, and an extinct volcano with a peak 3,380 metres above sea level make up the crater. One of the islands in the lake is home to a historic monastery that has a church.
