The finest traditions of Welsh arts and crafts are celebrated here, near the Skirrid Holy Mountain by Abergavenny, in a setting that is both picturesque and historic. Our Gallery showcases the work of members of the Black Mountains Circle Ltd. As well as high-quality, collectable art and craft work, special exhibitions and workshops, there’s a comfortable coffee shop and plenty of parking. And each time you visit one of our artists or makers will be on hand for a friendly chat.

These goats are so lovely with such fine detail. They are painted using watercolour, pen and ink and mixed media .

Lots of work goes on behind the scenes at the gallery to make it the colourful space it is. Stuart is threading the heddles on his loom , Henry is sucking up dust and debris and Jude then washing the floor of the new space which will be used for workshops .

Exciting news…..we have a new jeweller in our gallery cooperative!

Holly Hall, jeweller and goldsmith, is based in Abergavenny. Both tutored and self-taught, she works on a small scale, producing a limited number of pieces each year.
All of Holly’s jewellery is hand forged and as such, each piece is unique. She particularly enjoys the challenge of creating pieces which require precision and attention to detail.

We did it! Following the wonderful reception from the people of Abergavenny in the weeks leading up to Christmas, the local artists and makers known as the Black Mountain Circle have now moved from the Court Cupboard just outside Abergavenny to the Frogmore Street Gallery in the town centre. It's certainly a work in progress and we ask for your patience while we decorate, install exhibits and update our details online. In the meantime, the gallery is open Tuesday-Sunday. We look forward to welcoming you.

Eek! It’s Christmas Eve and our final day of trading for this year!

As we say farewell to the Court Cupboard, our heartfelt thanks go out not only to our wonderful customers, supporters and members, but also to the lovely owners of the beautiful venue that has been our home for 28years. 🙏💐🥰

We now look forward with excitement to opening our doors again on Wednesday January 3rd 2024 at the new premises in Frogmore St, Abergavenny. More details soon!

Part two video of our exhibition! Sue Gallagher, Mandy Coates and Rosie Farey. We are open 7 days a week 11am to 4pm.

Our new exhibition is up at the Court Cupboard Craft Gallery. It features the paintings of Sue Gallagher and the basketry of Mandy Coates and Rosie Farey. Sue is a local paid ter from Caerleon. Sue likes to attempt all aspects of painting and drawing.. She particularly enjoys landscapes and seascapes in an expressive style. She enjoys adding texture to her work using a palette knife , whilst a.lowing the colours and paint to flow. Mandy Coates is a basket maker from Abergele Conwy. Her weaving skills are superb with large baskets and bowls, as well as sculptures and bags on display here.. Often adding driftwood handles , or leather straps, her baskets and practical as well as beautiful. Rosie Farey also works in basketry, however her bowls are often very tiny and highly detailed., a real contrast to Mandy'swork.
