We are so lucky to have the beautiful ruins of Aros Castle stand on our headland, sitting up on the north side of the mouth of the Aros River, It was built over 800 years ago by one of the MacDougall Lords of Lorn as one of a series of castles intended to control both sides of the Sound of Mull in the 1200s.
