The Old Mill, Lintmill of Boyne

The Old Mill, Lintmill of Boyne This charming 18th century mill has been renovated imaginatively and converted to holiday accommodation by its architect owner.

The building was constructed in 1752 and worked as a lintmill until the mid 19th century, it fell into disrepair until 1987 when the restoration and conversion works started. The mill is listed and it is recorded as being one of the most intact in Scotland, sadly no machinery remains. The open plan living and dining area is located on the first floor along with the kitchen. The roof opens up to th

e rafters and this arrangement creates a bright interesting space. The kitchen has direct access to the outside via a timber bridge that spans the old water lade.

3 bedrooms and a bathroom are located downstairs and they connect with the upstairs via an open 2 storey hall space.

We hope you all had a great Boat Festival weekend. We had lots of fun, and were proud to host David and Jay's touring toolshed on the Friday before.
Sir David Jason's taste is far better than his 'Del boy' character, and insisted on a proper coffee served by our very own Liz during a take.
Liz has decided to stay here in Portsoy rather than follow a show biz' career. So we will be open from THURSDAY 6th, this week.
We are taking Wednesday to re organise the cafe after a crazy week. Hope you understand.
The Port House Cafe "Lovely Jubbly"
The warmest welcome around.
See you from Thursday.
Liz, Gareth and crew.

At almost eight acres in size it is one of the oldest and largest kitchen gardens in Britain and has been lovingly restored to its former glory with a modern design by world famous designer Arne Maynard. An oasis of peace and tranquility, the garden is also a hive of activity. Constantly tended by a small team of dedicated gardeners, a myriad of herbs, cut flowers, fruit and vegetables are grown within its ancient walls making the garden as beautiful as it is productive.

Open all year round, come and relax in the peaceful surroundings and see our gardeners hard at work, digging, sowing, hoeing and harvesting. Try delicious freshly picked produce in our award-winning Café or browse a range of over 200 products in our Shop, all based on the plants we grow or inspired by Gordon Castle Estate. With a wonderful natural play area and seasonal garden trails, there is plenty for children to see and enjoy as well.

The working Walled Garden changes with the Scottish seasons making each visit different. Enjoy fresh ingredients, picked minutes before they’re on your plate in the family-friendly Walled Garden Café.

Portsoy, you have been amazing. Thank you. Here is a message from our director Anthony Byrne: ‘A huge thank you to the people of Portsoy who welcomed us and let us take over their town for a week. It has been an absolute joy. Our time with you is over which is hard to believe given the many conversations, recces and logistical discussions we have had for over a year now. Personally, I want to thank the additional crew who joined us this week. Our location managers David Taylor and Susan Raynes who facilitated us. The maritime crews who kept us dry, our phenomenal construction and art dept who brought this place to life and made it Peaky. But more than that to the locals who ultimately made it possible. I can’t wait for you all to see what we did here. Stay safe. Love & Respect. By order of...’
