I was sorry to hear the news this evening of the passing of drummer Johnny 'Skip' Crawford. He was a renowned and much loved character in the Northern Ireland music scene.

Donegal's Mount Errigal shot from the shore of Lough Nabrackmea high up in the hills above Dunlewey on a rare sunny day in September.

A 751 metre high mountain in County Donegal, Errigal is the tallest peak of the Derryveagh Mountains and the highest mountain in County Donegal. I took this picture at Easter a few years ago on a rare sunny day from the shore of the Clady River looking back towards Dunlewey. Days like this will come again.

Since starting in 2010 I've shot countless concerts and been lucky enough to photograph some of the biggest names in music. It's been a roller coaster ride to say the least.

In 1977 Eddie Gillespie's Cara Na Mara hit rocks and was taken to Magheraclogher beach for repair. Forty three years later her remains still lie and are as much a part of the Donegal landscape as Errigal Mountain. In 2019 the locals got together and decorated her for the festive season.

It’s sad to think that today could see the sun set on Harland and Wolfe for the last time.

Was looking through some old stock images of the shipyard cranes this morning for a friend and found this one from way back in 2009 that was taken from Victoria Park. Amazing how the how area has changed since then with the new Sam Thompson Bridge and the new buildings at Shorts.

Saint Basil's Cathedral, Red Square, Moscow. It was built from 1555 to 1561 on orders from Ivan the Terrible and commemorates the capture of Kazan and Astrakhan. It was the city's tallest building until the completion of the Ivan the Great Bell Tower in 1600.

I was lucky to encounter and photograph the late Sam McCready a few times over recent years. His charm, wit and good humour will never be forgotten. My favourite production was his "Dickens in Belfast" show which he performed to a full house in the Strand Arts Centre in 2014. Enjoy the great theatre in the sky.

The ruins of the old Dunlewey Church of Ireland in the Poisoned Glen in the Gaeltacht area of Donegal illuminated from behind on New Year's Day by the light of the first sunrise of 2019.

The ruins of the old Dunlewey Church of Ireland in the Poisoned Glen. The church was consecrated on 1st September 1853 as a Chapel of Ease to Tullaghabegley. Tullaghabegley was the parish consisting of the present day Gweedore and Cloughaneely parishes. The church is built of white marble and blue quartzite which was quarried locally.

The Sam Thompson Bridge. The bridge which links Victoria Park to the Belfast Harbour Estate was named after the Belfast playwright who is best remembered for his controversial play "Over the Bridge" which tackled the thorny subject of sectarianism in the shipyard.

I was sad to hear the recent news of about The Strypes calling it a day. I have fond memories of their infectious sound and energetic performances over their brief yet productive eight year career together.. Here's an archive shot from their headline show at Sunflowerfest back in 2016.

One from the archives. The Strand Arts Centre. The Strand Cinema was opened on 7th December 1935, built for and operated by the English Union Cinemas Group. It had one screen with stage and 1170 seats. The first film shown was Bright Eyes starring Shirley Temple. The cinema's design was influenced by its proximity to the nearby shipyard of Harland & Wolff, featuring curved walls and port holed foyer

Queen's Bridge Belfast. Officially opened in 1849 by Queen Victoria replacing the old Long Bridge which crossed the River Lagan. When the old bridge was demolished A local doctor who asked if he could have a piece of granite from the old bridge as a souvenir to place in his garden at the junction of Castlereagh Street and the Albert Bridge Road where it remains to this day.

The Lagan Weir Footbridge. A pedestrian footbridge crosses the weir, connecting Donegall Quay with Queen's Quay. The original bridge, which was narrow and required spiral ramps at either end, was demolished in 2014 and replaced in 2015 by a new structure. The new bridge cost £5,000,000, and is 120m long and 10m wide at its widest point.
