We've been loving watching the bats hunting over the porch at Stephenson Ground in the twilight and getting rather over-excited at the number of wildflowers that are now appearing in the gardens.

For the past couple of years, we've been managing the longer grass areas by periodically cutting them with a scythe (Grim Reaper it isn't ... it's remarkably meditative and great for the arms). It's starting to make a big difference to the biodiversity of the plants, and the knock-on effects for the insects, the bats and the birds is really heartening.

We have some early autumn dates available:
September 10th - September 15th
October 8th - October 23rd
or check our website calendar here: https://stephensonground.co.uk/

It might not look very spectacular but it’s very exciting to find the first two Yellow Rattle plants that have grown from seed in our meadow. Here’s to many more helping to increase the biodiversity of the field.

We have the first two weeks of June available for guests so drop us a line about an early summer holiday and avoid the crowds! June is always one of the BEST times at Stephenson Ground - the lambs are still gamboling, the weather is usually lovely, the wildflowers are at their peak and the butterflies are busy.
