Most of my guests are great guests but sometimes they are superb! Not only did this lovely lady Catherine and her woofer Stella leave Crooked Nook like they hadnt even been there, she also left me this gorgeous little drawing of the front of the cottage! 🥰

We love zipping about on our bikes in the Peak District! Access to the Monsal Trail is just 7 miles away from Crooked Nook at Millers Dale.

All set for the Monsal Trail 🌿 Did you know there are over 260 miles of traffic-free cycle trails to explore in Derbyshire? 🚴

The Monsal Trail runs for 8.5 miles from Bakewell to Chee Dale, passing through some of the Peak District’s most incredible landscapes 🌳

Perfect for cyclists, walkers, horse-riders, pushchairs and wheelchair users - the Monsal Trail follows a former railway line and is accessible for all 🚴‍♂️🐴

You can hire bikes and enjoy refreshments at on the route too! 🚲☕️

Love this place, great whatever the weather too! 😀

Next weekend we are eggcited for our first seasonal event of the year - our Easter Extravaganza

We will have many stallholders in the Octagon, food & drink both inside and outside, children’s entertainment, the launch of the boats on the boating lake and our Easter Trail!

Fantastic to be heading towards spring and the cottage re-opening for the season. Exciting!

Oh come on, I mean, can you really imagine anything cuter?! It's not just those little faces that melt my heart, it's the teeny hooves! And that fine gate, obviously. The first lambs are boinging and meeeh-ing around in the Peak District fields now and it's a sure sign that Spring is just around the corner. Happy T-ewes-day!

The mighty Kinder Scout - the base of which is just a few miles from the 'Nook -nearly did for amazing Vernon Kay! Come do your own Kinder challenge!?

We’ve been hearing a lot about our magnificent Kinder Scout today ⛰️ Vernon Kay conquered the Peak District’s highest point en route to Manchester during his amazing ULTRA challenge for BBC Radio 2 BBC Children in Need, but unfortunately low cloud meant he couldn’t enjoy the views from the top ☁️👀

So, here’s a little look at the view from Kinder on a clear day 😍 Simply breathtaking!

Surely bluebells are one of Spring's greatest gifts? Lighting the darkest woodland floors with such a surprise of bright colour amid the grasses and unfolding bracken. Every year I count down the weeks until their arrival and then watch their progress day by day, until the moment when I walk into the woods and see that blaze of blue shining at me through the trees.
