There are no tickets for sale, but donations on the door are always welcome. The choir will be performing once more with Da Capo Brass with whom they will be presenting a musical pot-pourri called 'Summer Serenade' along with the wonderful keyboardist Trevor Hughes. Homerton Singers, conducted by Dr Douglas Coombes is for anyone and everyone, no matter how experienced (or not) or whether a music-reader (or not). All are welcome for a weekly session of simply enjoying making music with others of a like mind, letting go of everyday cares and concerns and re-setting emotional, spiritual and physical clocks once a week on a Monday evening (7:30 – 9:15pm – doors open at 7:00pm). Yes – singing is good for you!
The choir meets in the Great Hall of Homerton College and members come from students and staff of Homerton College, as well as visitors from the immediate locality and beyond.
We sing a wide range of music – from folksongs (especially arranged for our forces), songs from the shows, melodies from the classics, carols and works which allow us to combine with other choirs of all ages. Homerton Singers works towards concerts at the end of Michaelmas and Lent terms, as well as participating in the Homerton College Music Society’s events throughout the year.
Rehearsals begin on Monday 2 October 2023 at 7:30pm. Come along any time from 7:00pm to allow time for receiving music and your details to be noted. You are assured of a warm welcome.

It was wonderful to welcome to Homerton College Cambridge yesterday afternoon, our special guests The Amici Singers and The Ensemble of Friends for a '3 Choirs Festival'. It was a great occasion for 5 student conductors too, who had a follow-up opportunity to build on the Homerton Conducting Day held in February, as they conducted the Ensemble of Friends in their chosen pieces. A newly-formed student flute quartet provided a delightful instrumental contrast in the programme. Many thanks to everyone who supported us. The last rehearsal of term is tomorrow evening (Monday 13 March) at 7:30pm in the NW Auditorium at Homerton College, Hills Road, CB2 8PH. Why not come along just to listen and/or to join in, find out what it's all about and stick around for a 'social' to celebrate the term?

With just under 2 weeks to go now, before our Seasonal Concert, I thought it might be a good time to let you all know the 'what, when and where' of it. The poster shows all the details, but I can add that the programme will include a delightful through-composed Christmas work by Douglas Coombes, called 'Trig Trog and the Christmas Children' comprising 6 songs with linking narration as well as a mixed offering of folk songs, spirituals and children's music contributed by Gt Abington and Ridgefield Primary Schools. Christmas will be starting early - and we're looking forward to it. Why not come along and join the party?

It's just about 24 Hours away from our next rehearsal. Our musical director, Douglas Coombes is keeping us entertained and challenged by new music introduced each week, as well as leading us in some of our favourite songs learned over the past two terms. Singing is every bit as good as meditation or yoga for allowing your mind to forget about everyday cares, so why not come along and join in for 2 hours or so every Monday evening during term-time; yes even during the exam period!? You will be assured of a warm welcome. Venue: Homerton College, North Wing Auditorium: time 7:30pm sharp. Also open to members of the local community.
