We're sorry to announce that we are no longer running this as a holiday cottage and are closed.

Various factors have contributed to our decision - I could no longer do much during change overs, so Rick was left with the lion's share of work. New Welsh Government legislation has made it harder and more expensive to run small holiday businesses like ours. But finally and most importantly, Rick's mum was finding it hard to cope alone and was missing the countryside, so she has moved back to Wales and is living in the Cottage.
We have enjoyed meeting so many interesting people (and dogs!) and are sorry to have had to make this decision. But do keep coming back to this beautiful and fascinating country.

So pleased with all the colour in the garden at the moment.

We went to Aberglasney Gardens today. Lovely place and well worth a visit. The Welsh Orchid Festival was there this weekend and Farmyard Nurseries had an impressive display of Sarracenias and house plants.

Wonderful!

Some great reviews in the Guest Book

26 March – 2 April Paul + Josina from Surrey
We've had a lovely week in this wonderful cottage. The weather has been mixed, starting the week unseasonably warm and sunny, then ending with chilly snow!
It has been grand seeing so many visiting the garden, and the group of 4 red kites circling over the cottage was a real treat. We've particularly enjoyed our visits to the National Botanic Gardens, St David's and Aberaeron. The local crafts available in Llandeilo were very good, and it was interesting to see stained glass being made at Cariad Glass in Llandysul. We would happily come again. Many thanks.

16 – 23 April Gareth & Lynette. Beryl & Trefor, the dogs.
Fabulous week at Blaencwm Mawr Cottage! We travelled up from Cardiff to visit close family and friends and to spend time touring the area. Our dogs, Beryl and Trefor, an 11 month bulldog and (almost) 4 year old Staffie, have had a brilliant time running round the very secure back garden. Nice to see the lambs running round the surrounding fields and we enjoyed walking down the track to the main road, seeing the sheep and lambs as we passed by on our walks. Penrhiwllan has a great shop for the basics and would recommend the Daffodil (though best book online than the phone). There are lovely walks in the area. The Cottage has everything you need for your holiday and it is so peaceful and quiet here. Claire and Rick are great hosts and will solve any issues you may have. We will be back!

14 – 21 May Richard & Chris Bristol
We've had a great week's holiday in this lovely, lovely cottage. Really enjoyed the bird life, especially the Greater Spotted Woodpecker on the bird feeder. We have walked bits of the coast path every day, visiting Mwnt, Penbryn, Cwmtydu (thank you to Rick for the info!), Cemaes Head, and Llangrannog. (The pistachio cake at the 'Plump Tart' cafe at Penbryn was to die for...)
So peaceful here and thank you to Claire and Rick for their friendly help, not forgetting the welcome basket!

30 May – 4 June. Alison, Tom, Ewan and Reuben the dog.
Another fabulous week in the cottage. Lost count of how many times we've been (7 or 8 maybe?)
Claire and Rick were fab hosts as always, friendly, helpful and the cottage is, as always a home from home, yet so peaceful.
Amazing weather, lots of beach days, Aberporth, Tresaith and New Quay, unbelievable sunsets and dolphin sightings.
Visited the wildlife centre to see the new otter and saw two kingfishers.
Pizza Tipi in Carmarthen was great for dinner and the waffles from Cwtch at Aberporth were a great treat.

We had a trip to the Welsh Wildlife Centre, Cilgarran yesterday. The spring flowers and the bird song were wonderful.

We went down to Pembrokeshire today and had a short walk to Pentre Ifan. About 3,500 years old, it's a Portal Dolmen burial chamber - very impressive with a capstone that probably weighs 16 tonnes. The views towards the Preseli and Dinas Head are as spectacular now as they would have been then.

Cwm-yr-Eglwys (Valley of the Church) doesn't have much church left - it was destroyed by storms in the nineteenth century. But it's a lovely spot.
