DMBinS are hosting an evening this Thursday all about the HT550.

The fabulous Aoife Glass will be interviewing 👇

🚵‍♀️The speedy & super talented Kerry MacPhee
🌱The force of nature that is Lynne Davies
& me!

Aoife is such a talented interviewer that you should come just for her and the rest is a bonus. I am nervous but also excited to share tales from the trail. We are three very different riders with three different experiences. I can guarantee plenty of laughs.

It's this Thursday (29 Aug) in Peel Tower, Glentress. Tickets are a £5 donation to the Scottish Mountain Bike Health Fund.

There will be some refreshments and I am making some of the homemade snacks that saw me through my first day.

This year saw the very first time that the HT550 had a 50/50 gender split. We wanted to find out more about the challenges and experiences of three of the…

October 10th is World Mental Health Awareness day.

My knowledge and understanding of mental health has grown hugely in the last 6 years. It is something I take extremely seriously. And something I feel very strongly about raising awareness of.

🌱In the last 3 years my life has been directly affected by someone very close to me struggling with clinical depression. Their reaction to stressful situations has been forever changed.

🌱I have witnessed a very close friend, who has PTSD, have a flashback on a bus in Edinburgh after hearing an ambulance. This friend has had numerous periods in hospital and their life has been changed forever due to PTSD.

🌱Much more recently one of my oldest and closest friends killed himself after a short brutal battle with his mental health. Something I am still struggling to come to terms with.

I do wonder where my mental health would be if I didn’t live in Comrie and work in Mountain Biking. I ride to work every day. It only takes 20 minutes, but involves cycling through an avenue of redwood trees, up two steep inclines, 2 whoops downhill and I go past arguably the prettiest waterfall around. That commute is my medicine. The communities I am in from riding my bike are my medicine. I laugh, talk and cry with my friends, that is my medicine. I consider myself very lucky to have this.

I was presented with my Trail Therapy Practitioner Certificate at the Scottish Mountain Bike Awards last Thursday. I am the first person to become a Practitioner. It is something I am very proud of.

Trail Therapy is a 6 week innovative intervention programme that uses mountain biking as a tool to improve a person's wellbeing. I have been leading Mountain Bike Trail Therapy for a year now and I have seen first hand how amazing this programme can be.

“Thank you so much for introducing me to mountain biking. It has so helped me with my mental health and my battle with anxiety and depression.”

“Trail Therapy has changed my life, it has done more for me than any intensive therapy or medication”

I know as individuals we can’t change the world. But if I can help a few people by delivering Trail Therapy, then that is my commitment.🖤

A new trail Therapy Programme is starting on 30th Oct. Email me for more info: [email protected].

The Scottish Mountain Bike Gathering came to Comrie Croft 😁 and wow it was bloody brilliant 👊

To be in the moment, this is something we teach in Trail Therapy. From Rise & Grind on Thursday morning to the closing remarks, I have just spent two incredible days being right in the moment.

To quote Aneela "not one bit was s**t".

Highlghts👇
🌅Watching handcyclist Neil Russell arrive on the top of standing stone hill for Rise & Grind.
💯All the excellent speakers and panels, from the Cairngorms Capercaille Project, Sustainable MTB Trails to Diversity & Inclusion. Thought provoking, engaging and inspiring.
😊Being presented with my trail Therapy Practitioner certificate - the very first.
🔥Watching Scott receive Coaching & Guiding Provider of the year for Flow School.
🌱Delivering Trail Therapy sessions.
🤘Seeing the Croft full of mountain bikers sharing the stoke, connecting and having fun.

Thank you DMBinS for allowing me to add a wee bit of Comrie magic to the programme.

Proud of our team Comrie Croft & Comrie Croft Bikes doing what you all do best. 👊
I love where I work😁🤘

The first time I saw someone with a bike up a mountain I thought they were mental!

Ben Macdui from Linn of Dee is one huge chunk of mountain awesomeness. None of it for the front hearted!

800m of hike a bike. that is a record for me, not sure I have ever carried my bike up that much aspect before. It was really bloody hard.

Rewarded with zero vis on the summit, but a total party with loads of other folk enjoying a day out in the mountains 😊

The actual reward was a supeb, very spicy descent that just kept on giving😁🤘

Ok folks, voting is now open for the Best MTB Destination in Scotland 2023!

We are blessed in Scotland with so many exceptional mountain bike destinations. Superb hospitality, welcoming accommodation and of course, an incredible trail network that is appreciated by visitors from across the world. Last year Aberdeenshire took the win, and this is your chance to shout for your favourite destination!

As with previous years, the winners in all other shortlisted categories are being decided by panels of judges and will be announced at the Scottish Mountain Bike Awards - next Thursday at Comrie Croft. Still tickets available if you'd like to celebrate all that is awesome about Scottish Mountain Biking with us.

I am sitting at home with a lovely warm fuzzy feeling, reflecting on a weekend of coaching and guiding Dirt Divas MTB & Gravel

I grew up in the Army. I was one of few females who took the same path. I learned how I must behave in order to 'get on'. I was the only female out of 600 soldiers - in my first regiment. I became used to being the only female.

Since leaving the army I have been the only female on most of my training and assessment courses for my outdoor qualifications.

I have watched as more and more female led groups and movements have been created, in what have previously been male dominated environments.

It was an absolute pleasure and a privilege to be part of the Dirt DIvas team this weekend. It felt incredible to be surrounded by awesome female leaders, coaches, volunteers and most importantly role models.

The space that has been created by Leanne Whitehead and the rest of the team is something really special. Everywhere I looked there were bikes, women and massive smiles.

It made my heart sing.

Filling my tank💜

When I head out the door on a Thursday morning, while the rest of the village is still sleeping, I have no idea who will join me on Standing Stone Hill.

I love that☺️

First Scottish Schools'MTB Champs on home turf was pretty epic. The buzz was around the Croft was amazing.

A superb collaboration between

& .

The biggest U18 cycling event in Scotland this year. And to get more than 50 U18 girls at a cycling event apparently is unheard of. More work to be done for next year as still only 16% female!

Loved seeing my two young Greaves compete 😁
