There was quite a lot of snow at Wythebank last weekend. Our guests ended up staying a little longer than they had anticipated!

Although the weather has not been it's best during our few days stay, it's lovely to see the beck in the garden running so well again. This is largely the run off from our private water supply.

Our first sighting of a red squirrel at Wythebank. We had a report of one from a guest a few weeks ago but this was our first glimpse from the kitchen window! The only other red we had seen around here was on the top of Holme Fell so it is wonderful to see them coming lower down.

And the sheep and deer haven't eaten all of my flowers which we potted up a few weeks ago. The Petunias seen to have been tasty though.

The Chilean Lantern performing its best ever so far. It came from a cutting of the much more mature specimen at Hodge Close Cottage, probably about 12 years ago. I think it must have appreciated the compost from earlier this year. Thank you to our guests who have diligently topped up the compost bin with their vegetable waste 🥕🥦🥔

Just as we were returning from our late night walk with the dog round the triangle in front of the cottage I spotted a tiny green light on the verge which then went out. After about 30 secs it came back on. Here's what was lighting up. A glow worm larvae 🙂 First spot this year for us.

Snow on the tops in the distance looking back towards Wythebank. A lovely day for a walk over Yewdale fells and down to Coniston. One of our favourite circular walks from and back to the cottage.
