The Preseli Hills hills, modest in height though they are, have a wild, epic quality about them and it’s no surprise that King Arthur and his knights chose these wild uplands for their battle with the giant magic boar Twrch Trwyth – at least that’s what ‘The Mabinogion’, a book of ancient Welsh folk tales, would have us believe.

The ‘Golden Road’ across the Preselis is a 5,000-year-old trail that follows the spine of the hills and passes standing stones, Iron Age forts and the site from which the Bluestones of Stonehenge were quarried.

First weekend open in 2023 and what a fantastic couple we had visit. They had a great time cycling around the area. 🚲

Mythical stories set to illuminate Cardigan Castle

FFABL (Welsh for Fable) is a magical, spectacular lantern and light festival launching in Cardigan Castle this year.

Experience the wonderment of Christmas whilst meandering through wintry stories and Welsh mythology. You will also encounter some of the creatures and heroes from Wales’ finest book of legends, the Mabinogion.

Climb of the Llys y Frân Lake 🚲

Saturday 17th September 2022

For the first time ever, Llys y Frân are excited to launch an exciting cycling event which is open to all!

This open event is suitable for individuals from the ages of 12 years old right up to masters’ categories, a chance to bring out your retro bike or compete as a team, you’re in for a fun packed day! The route starts at the bottom of the Llys y Frân Dam Wall with riders being set off in one-minute intervals, allowing everyone a free run up the 0.5-mile hill with a line of spectators all along the course cheering and urging the riders on.
