Our gorgeous local beach, Blackpool Sands, only a 15 minute walk down the hill from The Old Butchers Stoke Fleming, opens up to dogs again Sunday 1st October, so you stay in our dog friendly studio AND have a beautiful beach to take your furry friend too. Win win!

BATHING WATER STATUS AT WARFLEET CREEK

We are working with Friends Of The Dart to establish Bathing Water Status at Warfleet Creek.

Achieving Bathing Water Status means there will be increased monitoring at Warfleet Creek and is a commitment to increase and maintain the water quality of our river.

As part of the application process, we need to count 100 people bathing or paddling at Warfleet Creek on 2 days before the end of September.

The first day we will be counting on is Monday 28th August (bank holiday Monday) from 2pm until 6:30pm.

The second day is Sunday 10th September where we will be counting from 12pm until 4pm.

We will need to take some “distance” photos as evidence but will ask first.

If you are swimming out of those times but on the 28th August or 10th September, please log your Warfleet activity by following this link and completing the short form

The nights are closing in and autumn is well and truly here. It is so much quieter in the South Hams now, but now is the perfect time to visit beautiful South Devon. GREEN DRAGON OPENING HOURS THIS WEEKEND.

Opening Hours on Friday 8th July and Sunday 10th July
We will be closing the pub at 5pm on Friday 8th &
6pm on Sunday 10th July to enable our staff to take a well deserved break & enjoy the festival at the beach, before the busy summer season begins!
We will be opening at 10am on both days to serve BREAKFAST,
coffee, tea and the BAR will be OPEN from 11am.
Saturday 9th we will operate our normal opening hours for bar and food.

We love our local village shop & post office! Full of lovely things, & even lovelier owners!

Where is the summer?! Hopefully it arrives ready for Tunes on the Sands… we are getting ready for a busy weekend next week. We will be fully stocked of alcohol, soft drinks etc. but for the mornings don’t forget we have croissants, coffees, pasties and will be doing sausage and bacon rolls….

Welcome to THE OLD BUTCHERS, a self-contained studio, part of our family home, which was the former village butchers in the heart of Stoke Fleming.

The village has a wonderful pub The Green Dragon, a very popular restaurant Radius 7, the well-stocked Stoke Fleming Shop with post office, and the wonderful family owned Stoke Lodge Hotel which is open for food and drinks to non-residents.

The stunning beach of Blackpool Sands is a 15 minute walk down the hill. The beautiful town of Dartmouth, Devon is a couple of miles away, and we are on The South West Coast Path and are in easy access of Dartmoor National Park.

This newly renovated self contained studio has a stylish living area with 2-seater sofa, a smart TV, Alexa, Charging station, Breakfast Bar with 2 stools, & a kitchen area with fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle & Nespresso Machine and small sink.

There is a spacious shower room with complimentary toiletries and towels are provided.

The sofa opens into a small sofa bed (but is only suitable for a small child).

The Old Butchers is accessed at the front of our house up 3 steps to the front door, and you have your own terrace with sea glimpses, with table, 2 chairs and hanging egg swing chair.

Other things to note
The sleeping platform is a raised double bed above the shower room in the original butchers, so headroom is limited (please see the photographs).
The kitchen area has a fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle & coffee machine, but NO cooker or hob.
There are steep steps up to the sleeping area, and also 3 steps up to the front door from the road.

There is a parking space in a private carpark a short distance from the house, but luggage can be unloaded outside the house before parking if required.
