Our sunflowers starting to bloom.
The butterflies and bees are loving them!
Adorable little #piedwagtail chicks getting dried off after the torrential downpour we’ve just had! Hoping it dries up for the bank holiday weekend ☔️
We’ve got some availability left for June so get in touch if you’re thinking about visiting #countydurham. We’re in the perfect location for #sightseeing and #walkingholidays in the North East.

Early evening exercise with an audience!
Another windy morning here at the farm!
We’re fully booked for half term but have some availability in March if you’re looking for a spring getaway.

Local road blocks 😂🙄
We had a flock trying to do the great escape yesterday and Craig had to do his best sheep dog impression to round them all up again!

Rather damp walk around the local area!

Breakfast time! I love the way they pin their ears back.
Mooooving day for some of our neighbours 🐄
Well that’s summer done then. First proper thunderstorm we’ve had in a while and it’s fairly spectacular!
Spent an excellent morning here learning about the history of lead mining in Weardale. We managed to see this lovely red squirrel, took a walk around the woods and reservoirs and panned for lead ore and minerals.
Our little one is a bit too young for the underground mine tour but children can do it from the age of 4. You must bring your wellies!
Entry to the museum is absolutely free for the rest of this summer and will take you around 40 minutes to get there from our cottages.
This lovely little family of tree sparrows have been our neighbours for the last few weeks. The chicks are definitely getting bolder and it’s wonderful to watch them feeding like this.
Mother and baby hares who come to eat and play outside every morning and evening!
We have a lot of hares hopping around at the moment and it’s an absolute joy to see them. It’s lovely to have a bit of rain this morning too as everything was starting to look a bit parched unbelievably!
Just bird song and blue skies this morning 😍
We spent an absolutely amazing morning with Phil from Durham Falconry flying his beautiful Harris hawk “lady”. It was a privilege to see this incredible bird close up and a bonus that the bluebells were in full bloom!
Slightly surprised to see all this snow coming down this afternoon! It’s really heavy now and actually starting to lie. Glad we got the gardening done this morning!
I’ve had a terribly unproductive morning watching through the binoculars this little fella making an appearance! Just a couple of minutes old in the video and trying to stand up. Sure he must have a sibling on the way too!
These two have been going on like that for at least 10 minutes. I’m not sure what they’re fighting about - there aren’t even any females around!
One of this morning’s visitors 👇🏻
I’ve just done the Big Farmland Bird Count and was surprised by how many different species we have here. There was a woodpecker on the bird feeder this morning but my favourite was a little, understated and apparently quite rare tree sparrow.
