We’ve been on a whirlwind of tours and day trips, throughout May.

Our team have crisscrossed Scotland with guests from all over the world, exploring scenic spots, visiting distilleries, and teeing off on picturesque golf courses.

We start June with a multi-day tour which takes us from Edinburgh to Dunfermline Abbey, Falkland Palace, St Andrews, Pitlochry, The Kelpies, Stirling Castle, Glasgow, Loch Lomond and Luss, Rest and be Thankful, Inverary and then up to Oban.

From Oban we take the ferry to the Isle of Mull, which takes less than an hour. Mull is the second largest island of the Inner Hebrides, with exceptional wildlife, whisky, and pristine beaches. The island is probably best known for the colourful harbour of Tobermory, the setting of the popular children's television series Balamory. Mull is also known for the stunning Duart Castle, which sits high on a cliff-top, the Tobermory Distillery which has some excellent malts, too, if you like a wee dram, and being the gateway to Iona.

We return to Edinburgh through the Trossachs, Stirling Castle, and Stirling before heading to the Dalmahoy Hotel & Country Club to leave our guests for a final night in Scotland before flying home to Canada.

If you would like any information on any of our tours, please get in touch, we will be more than happy to help.

Journey Across the UK and Ireland.

This week, we had the pleasure of organising and guiding a wonderful family of Canadians who embarked on an epic Cunard Trans Atlantic sailing, from New York to Southampton, around Wales, Ireland and then to Scotland.

We collected our guests from Cairnryan and stayed in Girvan for the night. From there, we started our tour through Scotland.

It has been a very busy week, visiting the picturesque village of Luss, Rest and Be Thankful, enjoying lunch in Inverary and then on to Kilchurn Castle before driving through the spectacular scenery of Rannoch Moor and Glencoe.

After spending two nights in Fort William, highlighted by a magical ride on the Jacobite Express from Fort William to Mallaig, crossing the iconic Glenfinnan Viaduct, our journey continued with a visit to Neptune's Staircase before heading to Inverness, stopping at Fort Augustus, Commando Monument, Drumnadrochit, Clava Cairns and Culloden.

The family spent an unforgettable night at Dornoch Castle Hotel before visiting Tomatin Distillery, House of Bruar and Pitlochry. We then headed back to Edinburgh where our guests will enjoy two days at leisure in the city before returning to Southampton for a cruise around Norway and Finland, eventually making their way back home on the return journey of Cunard's Trans Atlantic crossing to New York.

Our guests have had an incredible holiday and we’re thrilled to have been a part of their journey and wish them safe travels on their continued adventure.

What a whirlwind week we've had so far!
We've been crisscrossing the country, visiting some of the finest distilleries Scotland has to offer.

We started with the wonderful Glenfiddich Distillery, sharing the history and flavours with a lovely family of Americans. Next, was another fantastic tour to The Balvenie Distillery. Blair Athol Distillery was also on the agenda, where our guests’ enjoyed tours and tastings, delighting in the character of each whisky they tasted.

Our tour guide, Neil, has been in his element, impressing everyone with his extensive whisky knowledge. As an accredited Whisky Master, he loves sharing his passion for this iconic Scottish spirit.

We made a picturesque stop in Pitlochry, where a conference group on a team-building tour enjoyed some hiking to work up an appetite for more whisky tasting. Afterwards, they had some retail therapy at the House of Bruar.

Our adventures didn’t stop there! We explored the historic Falkland Palace and took in the beauty of Edinburgh on another panoramic tour.

Tomorrow, we're off on another exciting tour around our beautiful country, and the weather forecast looks fantastic! Slàinte!

We’ve had another incredible day showing off the beauty of our country.

We had the pleasure of accompanying the lovely Murray family on a journey through the heart of Scotland, and their ancestral connection to Blair Castle made our visit there extra special.

Starting our tour from The Balmoral, a Rocco Forte Hotel, we drove to Linlithgow Palace, before heading to the Kelpies and Stirling Castle.

Of course, no Scottish tour is complete without a stop at the adorable 'Hairy Coos' on our way to Kenmore, for lunch.

We couldn't resist a stop at the world-famous Iain Burnett The Highland Chocolatier for some indulgent treats for our guests before making our way to Blair Castle where the Murrays had an unforgettable experience.

To top it all off, we treated our guests to a whisky tasting at Blair Athol, where they enjoyed the flavours of Scotland's finest, before returning to Edinburgh.

We feel incredibly fortunate to live and work in such a stunning country, especially on days like today when the weather was stunning.

Another unforgettable week of golfing in Scotland, based in the beautiful St Andrews, has come to an end! Our returning group of Italian golfers made the journey once again to experience the sheer beauty and challenge of Scotland's prestigious courses.

From the historic links of St Andrews to the picturesque greens of Gleneagles and the legendary fairways of Carnoustie, every swing spoke volumes about their deep love of golf.

We're incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to guide them through these iconic courses and witness their enthusiasm firsthand and we can't wait to welcome them back next year.

Huge thanks to our wonderful Italian guests for choosing to return with us year after year. Your loyalty and camaraderie make each trip an absolute pleasure.

Last night, our whisky master, Neil, treated a group of American lawyers to an exclusive tasting at the prestigious Signet Library, located in the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town on the Royal Mile. (Thanks to Stevie from Alba Entertainments for hosting the evening.)

Tomorrow, Neil is back on the road again heading to the wonderful Daftmill Distillery.
The family owned Daftmill Distillery is celebrated for its traditional approach to whisky-making, growing, and using their own barley, and taking water from their own artesian well. Set in the heart of Fife, it is one of Scotland’s smallest Malt Whisky Distilleries.

Another Easter to remember!

We've had an incredible Easter here at Saltire Executive Travel, with an array of private tours, from the historic charm of St Andrews to the breathtaking views of Pitlochry and Queens View, and the wonderful experiences at The Scottish Deer Centre & Wildlife Park Featuring: Muddy Boots in Cupar.
The Scottish Deer Centre stole the show, especially for the little ones! Watching their faces light up as they encountered these magnificent creatures up close was truly heartwarming. Learning about the deer and the other animals and their habitat added an educational touch to the fun-filled day. For those of you who haven’t visited the Deer Centre, it’s well worth a visit.

And of course, our panoramic tours of Edinburgh have been a hit, offering a unique perspective of this historic city that never fails to impress.

A huge thank you to all our wonderful clients who chose to explore Scotland with us this Easter. We're thrilled to have been a part of your holiday adventures and can't wait to welcome you back for more unforgettable experiences in the future!

Today our overseas clients, Mary Queen of Scots enthusiasts, asked us to curate a bespoke tour for them, showing them the fascinating historical sites in Scotland associated with Mary Queen of Scots dramatic story.

A fascinating figure in Scottish history, born in 1542, she became queen at just six days old. Her life was filled with political intrigue, marriages, and turmoil. Imprisoned by her cousin Elizabeth I, she was executed in 1587.

Mary’s story is one of political intrigue, religious conflict, and personal struggles. Her legacy continues to captivate historians and enthusiasts alike.

Queen Mary’s Trail

Palace of Holyroodhouse: Mary, Queen of Scots spent most of her turbulent life in the Palace - a dramatic and often tragic chapter in the history of the building. She married two of her husbands in the palace. Her private secretary David Rizzio was murdered in her private apartments by a group led by her husband Lord Darnley, who was jealous of Rizzio's influence over Mary.

Edinburgh Castle: Mary’s most obvious connection to Edinburgh Castle is that she gave birth to the future King James VI here, on 19th June 1566. Mary was the first monarch to be crowned with the Honours of Scotland, the crown, sceptre and sword that make up Scotland’s crown jewels.

Linlithgow Palace: Mary’s birthplace in 1542. After a fire in 1424, James 1st started construction of the present palace, but this took over 200 years to complete.

St. Michael’s Parish Church: Where Mary was baptised, with a bronze statue overlooking Linlithgow Peel.

Stirling Castle: Mary was crowned and lived there as a young child. Stirling Castle was a Scottish Royal residence and a fortress and several Scottish Kings and Queens were crowned at Stirling, including Mary who was crowned Queen of Scots on 9 September 1543. King Henry VIII wanted Mary to become the wife of his son in the hope to unify England and Scotland.

Falkland Palace: Was one of the favourite places of Mary, Queen of Scots, who took refuge there from political and religious turmoil of her times. Mary enjoyed hunting, tennis and falconry while there.

Lochleven Castle: A medieval tower on the island of Loch Leven which is famous for its association with Mary Queen of Scots - it was here in 1567 that Mary was imprisoned and forced to sign an abdication document passing the throne to her son. Mary escaped from the castle in 1568, with the help of George Douglas, son of the castle's keeper.

Yesterday was an enriching experience for our tour company as we had the pleasure of attending a conference hosted by SITOA, Scottish Independent Tour Operator Association in the city of Inverness.

Established in January 2021, SITOA was born out of a desire to support small, local tour operators who faced challenges during the Covid-19 pandemic. With around 150 member businesses across Scotland, SITOA ensures that clients receive top-class service with a focus on health, safety, and responsible tourism.

The conference was an opportunity to connect with fellow tour operators, share experiences, and learn from industry partners. We were treated to insightful talks from partner organisations like Steamship Sir Walter Scott, shedding light on the fantastic cruises on Loch Katrine, and Visit Inverness Loch Ness, Inverness, showcasing Loch Ness and its surrounding areas.

Furthermore, we were inspired by the presentation from the owners of The Glen Mhor Hotel, highlighting their dedication to refurbishment and sustainability, and we had a fabulous visit to Uilebheist Distillery for a tasting and tour experience.

It's moments like these that reaffirm our commitment to providing exceptional tours while contributing to the promotion of responsible tourism practices.

Today, is the 259th anniversary of the birth of our national Bard, Rabbie Burns, and the timeless tradition of a Burns night supper, as tributes are paid to this literary legend who continues to inspire generations throughout the world.

Robert Burns, fondly known as the Bard of Ayrshire, gifted the world with his poetry, including the world famous “Auld lang Syne” and “Address to a Haggis”, which captures the essence of love, friendship, and the beauty of our bonnie land, Scotland.

Burns night is a time-honoured celebration where Haggis, Neeps and Tatties, and a wee dram come together. Why not pour yourself a dram of Dailuaine single malt whisky, which pairs perfectly with Haggis, it has a spicy, dried fruit and sherry nose, and a long, nutty, spicy, and toffee taste left on the palate. It Is the perfect partner for Haggis .

From all of us at Saltire Executive Travel, here’s to a Happy Burns Night! May your evening be filled with laughter, good company, and a touch of the poetic magic that defines our Scottish heritage.
