Week long tours are scheduled for The Scottish Borders, Galloway, and Hadrians Wall in 2013. We stop for stories along the way - myths, legends, humour and history - which allows us to immerse ourselves more fully in the landscape.

Cycling across the Braid Hills today, the gorse out, the raindrops shining and the wind dropping enough to light a candle for Andy. Always shining.

It is with great sadness I have to announce that Andy died suddenly in January. It is unclear at this time what the future of StoryBikes will be. However, we would state that there will be no tours run for the foreseeable future. Thank you for your understanding at this very difficult time for Andy's family.

A lovely day for the Edinburgh 20-miler ride today, though given the shortness of midwinter days we didn't do as much as 20 miles today. Some of us walked some short stretches where the paths were more slippy - I was impressed by Jim's Continental Top Contact Winter tyres. Worth having if you do much winter cycling.

Royal Botanic gardens closed yesterday because of high winds, but we were able to continue with stories inside, and those of us billed to tell stories outside could venture on to the decdking outside the cafe, which did provide lovely spaces to tell stories. Daru McAleece, Andy Hunter and Mara Menzies in the photos below.

In Glasgow a couple of weeks ago checking out a new route. I had never seen the site of the Roman baths before. The Antonine Wall ran past here. Building of the wall commenced in 142. It was abandoned in 165.

A glorious day yesterday, cycling from the west end of Glasgow out to Chryston where we were hosted by Michael Kerins and joined by other storytellers. There is a way to get from Hogganfield loch to Chryston without following a main road - it had taken me 5 attempts to find it!

A great weekend. I led a story walk through the woods on Saturday, and a workshop on Sunday. Yesterday morning, Brompton reloaded, I cycled to Lanark to get the train home - my route taking me along the Clyde walkway, passing the Falls of Clyde. So beautiful.

Last Wednesday I went on my long day-ride of the year. Last year I reached 113 miles. This time I got up to 120, starting in Lockerbie and riding home from there, by way of Langholm and Hawick. Too much I think. Not enough time to eat, drink, and get off the bike to look at other things. I did have time to walk to St Mary's kirkyard, where:
"Margaret was buried in the lower chancel,
Sweet William in the higher;
Out of her breast there sprung a rose,
And out of his a brier.
They grew as high as the church-top,
Till they could grow no higher,
And then they grew in a true lover's knot,
Which made all people admire."
Long it might have been, but still a beautiful day. I do have this knack of finding rough tracks to go on, which cuts the average speed considerably! I was on the go from 7.10-21.50.

A lovely morning to take Lucila, Paolo, Cecilia and paolo Araujo from Brazil on a tour. To Portobello, (and icecream at The Beach house), and then the Innocent Railway and Holyrood Park. Cecilia was up at the front a good part of the time! What I am considering to be a gloriously warm summer here compares to winter in Brazil!
