Incredible views of Ocelot from a hide for our Brazil tour group today at SouthWild Pantanal lodge. The Pantanal is known for its Jaguars but we have also seen Giant Anteater, Puma, Black Howler Monkey, Capybara, Hooded Capuchin Monkey and Southern Tamandua Anteater on the trip so far and we’ve only been here three days!

A boat trip on Kerkini lake yesterday morning got us up close and personal to a massive abundance and variety of water birds. The boiling water created by a frenzy of thousands of Cormorants and White Pelicans created a sound that could be heard over 2km! Not a great place to be a fish!

Beautiful Lake Kerkini, nestled at the foothills of the Belles Mountains in Northern Greece, is the destination for one of our groups this week. Hordes of breedings herons, pelicans and Pygmy Cormorants, and a constant soundtrack of Golden Orioles, Turtle Doves, Corn Buntings and Nightingales are the norm here. We’ve seen flocks of Bee-eaters, Red-backed and Lesser Grey Shrikes, Lesser Spotted Eagle and lots more and it’s only our first afternoon!

Day two in Brazils Atlantic Rainforest and some superb birds on offer. It was a great day for foliage-gleaners and woodcreepers, plus we got great views of Sharpbill - a canopy-dwelling bird which is often shown in the fields guides and checklists but which is not often seen and was a first for us. Lots of gaudy tanagers and parakeets too, of course!

Excitement for our Shetland tour group when news broke this morning of an American Yellow Warbler at Hoswick. Thankfully we weren’t far away and relocated the bird at the south end of the village where good views were had by all! It’s a bright one!!
