Reighton Sands and the shipwreck are on our doorstep 😊
Sunday’s walk was VERY muddy - so the beach might be your best bet for a walk if the tides are out, especially if there’s a concrete descent road. There are lots of exciting walks with things to see and explore on the Yorkshire Coast and here are a few of our favourites.
🐚 See a shipwreck at Reighton Sands
If the tides are right and you visit at low tide, this is a fantastic adventure for all would-be pirates.

🐚 Descend the cliff via rope at Ulrome and walk on down the beach to Mr Moos. There is a descent road if you walk through the caravan park to reach the beach.

🐚 Go on a fossil hunt at Mappleton
Find your own treasure on the beach: sea glass, ammonites and crinoids are all easy finds here and you don’t need a hammer. Keep well away from the cliffs as they are prone to collapse and only search on an outgoing tide, head back at low tide.

🐚 Explore the beach at Barmston
The cliff descent is muddy this time of year, so once parked up, walk through the caravan park and down the cliff path which takes you to the beach on what I call ‘Fraisthorpe’ side. If you walk to Fraisthorpe you’ll find fossils and sea glass, there are also a few concrete bunkers on the beach too. If you walk South back to Barmston then you might well find a seal or an awesome shell!
