Our First HomeExchange 😊😊

We recently put Meadowside House on HomeExhange.com and have been incredibly fortunate with our first exchange, staying at this amazing place in Maine, USA. Diana (the owner) came to our rescue when we found ourselves in some very noisy accommodation during our New England holiday. She accepted our last minute ‘guest point’ exchange and went above and beyond to help us out.

In contrast to where we were staying, this place is an oasis of peace, tranquility and luxury, set in 3 acres of land, with the only noise being from the wildlife around. It’s so stunning, exceptionally well designed and equipped, immaculate and the owners are so lovely.

The house sleeps up to 13 people, making the per person per night rate very reasonable.

We really can’t recommend this place enough and are hoping to rent it out ourselves for a skiing trip in the future 😊.

Aww beautiful. A great place to stop for a cuppa and a slice of cake or bacon butty, when having a walk on the beach. As you can see the views from the cafe are stunning.

Had such a lovely trip out from Meadowside House yesterday to Dalby forest (about a 35 minute drive from Meadowside). It’s beautiful and huge. We will definitely go back!! There’s bike & electric bike hire, Segway hire, a Go Ape, children’s play area, picnic areas and so many trails. We only touched the surface yesterday but can’t wait to go back. Would highly recommend for anyone staying at Meadowside.

After a wonderful week of sunshine, with a week of rain ahead, we’re spending our Sunday down at the beach.

Whatever the weather, the beach is our go-to place for down time and is always followed by coffee and cake at the Pot Still Coffee Shop.

What's new this year?

The Winter Woodland Elves are causing mischief - tinkering with lights and sound to create a stunning party atmosphere in the woods, with the emphasis firmly on fun.

It will be an opportunity to come and enjoy the woods on a free - flowing walk, lit up with stunning displays of colour, and to see what the woodland elves get up to outside of the toymakers’ workshop – playing, crafting, and dancing with the reindeer.

The house itself will be filled with Christmas decorations, lights and trees, and the cheeky elves will be hiding in the rooms. There will also be a new exhibition in the house, ‘Elves – not just for Christmas’.

There will be an all new spectacular display of lights, sounds and special effects will bring the grounds to life for a great evening out this festive season.

The hugely popular Sewerby Winter Woodland will return to Sewerby Hall and Gardens this Christmas, from 9 – 23 December.
