🌳 This large mature Japanese Red Cedar needed to be removed to save a victorian Japanese garden complete with man-made caves and ponds, unfortunately this tree was causing a cave and wall to collapse so we had to safely dismantle it without causing any damage to the grounds below. Very challenging but a satisfying job in the end! 🌳

🐟🌲 Project Spotlight! 🌲🐟

Our team recently tackled the removal of trees from the River Garry to improve fishing access. A special shoutout to Alwyn, who suited up in a wetsuit and braved the river with a wee wild swim to attach ropes to the logs for hauling them out. His dedication and hard work made this challenging task possible. Great effort by everyone involved! 💪👏

🌳 Meet the team!
Meet the owner of ktreeslimited, Kenny Turnbull a local lad from Ardgour with a passion for nature and the outdoors.

🌿 Leaving school his first job was working at a local fish farm, then with the Corran Ferry, He then moved to work with a local building restoration company, before finally ending up in forestry, working for Ian Shaw, a commercial forestry contractor.

🏔️ Kenny then travelled to Australia in 2006, for 2 years. There he worked in various farming jobs, in 2008 he moved back for 6 months to work with Ian, allowing him to save up so he could then travel New Zealand. Where he worked for a year with a tree surgeon.

🌲 He then managed to get a job to be a part of the SSE tree cutting squads in 2010, He completed all his tree climbing qualifications and electrical tickets with his time here, Kenny worked for SSE for around five years. He then got a job with Stag infrastructure Ltd.

💼 In 2016, Kenny decided to put down roots and start his own business, KTrees. With just a handful of tools and a whole lot of determination, he set out to provide top-notch tree services to his local community... With great reviews and word of mouth it grew quick!

👨‍👩‍👦‍👦 When he's not hard at work in the forest, you can find Kenny spending quality time with his wife Alisha and their two sons, Odhran and Fionn. 🌟

🌳 Meet the team! Here we have Alwyn, one of the talented members of our KTrees team! With a passion for arboriculture and a wealth of experience, Alwyn brings invaluable expertise to every project he faces.

🌿 In 2016, Alwyn earned his LANTRA City & Guilds NPTC Level 2 Award in Ground Based Chainsaw Operation, followed by his Level 3 Award in Tree Felling, Climbing, and Cross Cutting, along with Level 3 Rigging and Basic Rescues. His journey in the industry began at Zip World Fforest in North Wales, where he honed his skills in tree work alongside construction.

🏔️ After relocating to Inverness in 2017, Alwyn continued to thrive in the construction industry while seizing opportunities to apply his expertise in tree felling. He then moved here to Fort William in 2022, where he became neighbors and friends with Kenny, Patiently awaiting the right opportunity to arise, Alwyn realized his true calling: becoming a full-time arborist with KTrees.

🌟 Alwyn's dedication and passion for arboriculture shine through in every task he undertakes. We're proud to have him on our wee team, Here's to many more successful years of working together! 🌳💼

Last Friday, we found ourselves huddled under a bivvy bag, keeping warm and dry as this cold easter blast was starting to kick in, here's hoping this cold spell is the last of the season!

🌲🎄 Here's a wee throwback to last Christmas time when we took on the challenge of crown reducing on a huge cypress hedge located at Mowi Scotland Loch Lochy site. Despite the chilly weather, our team got to work, ensuring that the hedge was pruned to perfection. It was a job that required skill & patience, just look how neat that end result looks! 💪🏼

🌳🔨 Last Thursday and Friday, we rolled up our sleeves and got to work at Glengarry Castle Hotel , tackling multiple wind-blown trees and clearing paths around the estate. 💪🏼 Despite the challenges, the sun broke through the clouds, lighting up the landscape. A brilliant day at work!
With spring around the corner, brighter days are ahead, and we're ready to power through! 🌲☀️

🌳Watch as our team at KTrees takes on the ultimate challenge: turning tree removal into a high-speed spectacle! ⏩ While the timelapse makes it look like a breeze, in reality, it's all about precision and patience, if only it were this fast in real life! 😄

This was a Large dead spruce tree that was starting to lean, we had got a call in from one of the local estates to remove the tree and it was successfully removed.

Happy Sunday! in celebration of the days finally getting longer we thought we would share some...

🌲🌀Storm Gerrit Photos 🌀🌲

When storm Gerrit struck at the end of December, our team sprang into action! We were called out to remove a tree from a roof in Inverlochy, working closely with local authorities, our amazing team managed to successfully remove and clear the tree, allowing the council to repair the pavement and homeowners to restore their roofs.

More than happy to help our community in times of need!

It's been pretty quiet on our social media lately but not in reality! The start of this year has had KTrees busy making trees safe and tidying up from the aftermath of storm Gerrit 🌬️

As we get ready for another busy week next week we thought we would share some pictures from the clear up.

A big thanks to Corrigan contractors helping us out with a job as the tree was too unsafe to climb and dismantle.
Using their Palfinger PK78002 and GMT 035 grapple saw with a 31m reach kept our crew safe and made short work of an otherwise dangerous job!

Unfortunately with this tree in decline and it being in such close proximity to the owner’s property and outbuildings the only option was to remove it.

It’s been pretty quiet on our social media lately but not in reality!

Lochaber Rugby Club holds a special importance with us at KTrees with all of our team having worn the black and gold jersey at some point in our lives. Some still do on a Saturday afternoon but the majority of us are more likely to be found on the sidelines cheering on the next generation as our children have also picked up the game.

Rugby is a game for all that offers real benefits to those that play. Rugby promotes increased confidence and self-respect, as the ultimate character-building sport. It fosters courage, fitness, team effort and togetherness, bringing together boys and girls from all backgrounds.

As sponsors of the U14 girl's team strip we were insanely proud that they were chosen to represent Lochaber Rugby Club on Saturday as official flag bearer's at the Woman's RBS 6 Nations Scotland v Italy game. An amazing experience for them all and a proud moment for KTrees and Lochaber Rugby Club...well done girls!!
