We are pleased to announce the addition of another high route option for the Great Glen Way. In collaboration with the Abriachan Forest Trust we have marked a route through Abriachan that takes users over the hill, Carn na Leitire, before joining back with the original route.

This option adds 1.2 km of distance, will take users to the 'new' highest point of the route at 434m and mostly follows well constructed footpaths. This option is ideal if you want a break from the wider forestry roads. The views are pretty great as well!

More information can be found on our website: https://www.highland.gov.uk/greatglenway/info/16/ and there are also information panels at either end of the new high route with maps and additional details.

⚠️ Closure of A82 Glencoe Three Sisters parking areas for improvement works from 30 Oct for eight weeks ⚒️

🅿️⛔ From 7am on Monday, the larger Three Sisters parking area, known as the Coire Gabhail / Hidden Valley car park, will be closed until around Friday 22 December, for redesign and resurfacing, including the introduction of marked parking bays to ensure a safer and more organised parking capacity 🚗🚐🛵🚲

🅿️⛔ From end of November, the smaller Three Sisters parking layby, known as the Coire nan Lochan layby, will also be closed for up to four weeks, in order to undertake improvement works and resurfacing. In the future, this layby will be dedicated to buses and coaches 🚌🚌

Most of this work will be taking place off-road, limiting disruption to road users, though there will be several occasions when traffic management on the A82 will be in place🚦

⚠️ While the parking areas are closed, drivers are asked to respect road signage, stop only in other designated car parks and laybys, and not park illegally on the roadside, which is a Clearway throughout the Glencoe area 🚧

Footpaths into the mountains around the Three Sisters will not be affected 🥾

This work has been programmed to avoid the height of the tourist season, as well as the traditional winter climbing season, to help minimise impact on visitors and walkers, however we understand it may cause inconvenience to some, and thank everyone for their patience 😊🙏

We hope it will bring much-needed improvements to road and parking safety, landscape presentation and the visitor experience at this popular location for sightseers and walkers in the heart of Glencoe National Nature Reserve NTS 🏔️💚

Plans have been developed in collaboration with Transport Scotland and .Scotland, in line with mandatory design standards for trunk roads.

We are grateful for funding support from the Scottish Government’s Rural Tourism Infrastructure Fund for this project, which is a partnership with The Highland Council and our local community.

If you have any questions, please message us here 👍👍

Last year we started to support a local Downhill Mountain Biker with some rider support. It’s a pleasure to be able to carry on that support for the current racing year for Nina Cameron.
Her recent results have included:
3rd at Llangollen Downhill and Rhyd-YFelin,
Scottish Junior Champ at Ae Forest.

4-6th Aug 2023 the 2023 UCI Downhill World Championships will be held at Nevis Range, Nina will be racing as part of the GBR Junior Women’s downhill team.

We wish Nina all the best and all the other rider in this year’s Downhill world championships.

We recently completed wildlife safe operator scheme training for Adventure accredited operator. The WiSe Scheme is about watching marine wildlife the wildlife-safe way. The west coast of Scotland has a fantastic variety of marine wildlife, this helps to promote responsible wildlife watching.

Nice one Nina. 4th in the 2nd round of the British Downhill series.

What a couple of years it has been.. We at Snowgoose Mountain Centre had a very suddenly loss in late 2020 during the covid times, which made it even more, unreal.

John was a Yorkshire man through and through. He joined the RAF at 15 with 15 years’ service, he also serviced in RAF mountain rescue, jungle and desert rescue and covered allot of ground.
After he was demoded on the east coast of Scotland, John joined Murry sea school “outward bound” which later closed.

The family moved to the west coast of Scotland around 1976. John worked at Loch Eil Outward bound just before he started Corpach chandlers/sailing school. This later turned into Snowgoose Mountain Centre, after a few years. 40 years down the twisty road in memory of John, the family is still running Snowgoose and looking forward to the changes ahead of us all.
