As you may know, the UK Government is implementing a new security measure for inbound flights from Egypt to the UK.
The new arrangement allows passengers to take a normal sized mobile phone into the aircraft cabin. This includes phones and smart phones up to a maximum size of 16cm in length, 9.3cm in width and 1.5cm in depth.
Larger phones, e-readers, tablets or laptop computers will not be allowed in the aircraft cabin. They must be switched off, placed into hold luggage and checked-in before going through airport security. No such devices will be allowed in the aircraft cabin, even if purchased in the duty free shopping area.
The new measure will be phased in between now and 25 March. We are working with our local travel partners and the airlines to minimise any disruption, but we advise that passengers should allow some extra time for check-in and security.
This new measure does not apply for flights from the UK to Egypt, where normal hand luggage restrictions continue to apply.
Flights to and from Egypt continue to operate normally, and there has been no change in the UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office advice on travel to Egypt.
