Sam’s Snug is a modernised two bed, traditional flint cottage available to rent by the Norfolk Coast. Open slat stairs lead up to the first floor landing.

On the front wall of Sam’s Snug is a blue plaque dedicated to local legend Sam Larner, a herring fisherman and folk singer who once lived in the cottage. Sam first went to sea when he was eight years old, and later in life became one of Britain’s most influential folk singers. Today, Sam’s Snug has been transformed into a modern two bedroom cottage with a gorgeous garden. Downst

airs, the spacious entrance porch has plenty of room for hanging coats and storing walking shoes. A door to the right leads into the kitchen, which has an electric hob, cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer and washing machine. At the back of the house is a modern bathroom with a bath and overhead shower, washbasin and WC. The double aspect living room has a 'pot-belly stove' for cosy evenings in, comfortable seating and a dining table which seats 4. Upstairs, the main bedroom has a king size double bed, and an ensuite WC with washbasin. Bedroom two has twin 3’ single beds and overlooks the back garden. Outside there is ample off road parking for two cars and the back garden is private and enclosed with stunning views of the church. There is free unlimited wifi at Sam’s Snug and two dogs are welcome. The cottage is only a five minute walk from the beach and close to other local walks across the Norfolk countryside.

Did you know that Sam’s Snug is so named in homage to a rather famous local chap…!

Samuel James Larner - more commonly known simply as Sam Larner, lived for a large proportion of his life at what is now Sam’s Snug..!

Sam is the locally well known ‘Singing Winterton Fisherman’ and his songs and shanties are known across the folk singing world..!

It’s all go on Christmas Day with the local seal colony here at Winterton..!

Just a short walk from Sam’s you can currently (and every winter) see 1000’s of Grey seals spreading across the dune complex….!

If you come to stay at Sam’s - get in touch and ask us where the quieter places are - and get the seals all to yourself…!

Remember - keep your distance, view from afar and never disturb them…..
