The rustle of reeds today on Meadow Dyke

A major fledging event, the numbers of Swallows has been increasing for weeks but today they were extra impressive as they flew around the masts of the yachts and then out into the mere.

April’s showers at last! Swallowtails have been out for nearly two weeks and we had some great sightings in between yesterday’s showers, also we had our first Norfolk Hawker dragonfly. Close up views of Cuckoo’s and luckily for them, many more Reed Warbler around. Wrens, Reedling and Reed Buntings abound while the Bitterns are booming less. Passing through this week we have had a Great Northern Diver and an Arctic Tern. What ever the weather, this is a great time to be out and about.
