No power still, so much for the BBC Wales report that all power outages would be restored by midnight last night.....well it hasn't been so get a grip BBC we need accurate reporting that is what you are paid to provide us with, South Wales isn't the only place without power.....just had an update from SP Network that they expect all the power to be working by 10pm tonight in our area......we will wait and see.....

"In the 19th century, Porthmadog was the gateway to the area’s mountain quarries and a bustling, international port, shipping slate all around the world. Industry in North Wales revolved around this export of slate and it was used to construct everything from the floor of Boston airport to the roof of Cologne Cathedral. Porthmadog is also home to the oldest surviving independent railway company in the world, the Ffestiniog Railway, which opened in 1836. Griff climbs on board to travel the 13 miles to the town of Blaenau Ffestiniog, once the slate capital of the world."

You'll never guess..... there are more delays at Pont Briwet. Here is what the Council told us nearly 4 hours after it was due to open this morning:-

Following on from the message sent before Christmas, it had been intended to re-open the road bridge today. However an inspection of the bridge this morning has identified that significant potholes have appeared in the road deck surfacing. The position and size of these potholes are a cause of concern and it will be necessary to lift the road surface and assess what mitigating action can be taken. The road will therefore remain closed to all vehicles until further notice.

We apologise for this further delay. However, we must be satisfied that the bridge is safe for vehicles before it can be re-opened. We will ensure that further information on actions and timescale are provided as soon as they are available.

WEATHER UPDATE Friday 1600:

Both lines are now clear and unless further storm damage occurs overnight, we expect to run a normal service on both the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland on Saturday.

Porthmadog Booking Office will be open from 0845 on Saturday morning to answer telephone queries. Ring 01766 516024.
