Our Upper Porthmawr visitor book is always full of lovely comments from delighted family’s, groups of friends or those celebrating major birthday’s however this mornings message made me laugh out loud from a bunch of surfers from Bangor who left the farmhouse immaculate;
There was once a house on the beach
And to stay there was really a peach
We went in the water
Far more than we ought to
And out of the waves we did breach

We are deeply interested in the history of Upper Porthmawr and collecting photo’s of the previous owners Granville and Peggy James who farmed the land here. Peggy would sit on the step and start conversations with passers by on the coastal path which runs outside the farmhouse, starting with ‘How are you then?’
With the help of AI we have cleaned up some old photos of them and the farm. If you know of any more or any further history of the farm we would love to hear from you.
