Lovely day out on the water yesterday, with lots of good sized mackerel about and a few pollack over the reefs.

We took advantage of the recent bad weather to give Blue Shark a good scrub and touch up the paint work!

A great start to the season yesterday with our first trip seeing plenty of fish! There were lots of herring, a few mackerel, one small gurnard and stacks of pollack with quite a few keepers. Being a little rusty we didn’t manage many photos, especially as when we hit the pollack they were coming up 3 at a time and we had our hands full! Hopefully this is a good sign for the rest of the season. We have spaces tomorrow on an 1 1/2 hour trip, which given the forecast maybe our last for a little while.

Well here we are at the end of another year of fishing adventures aboard the Blue Shark. The weather didn’t always behave and sometimes neither did the fish! We welcomed back lots of our regular anglers and met many more lovely people, introducing some to their first fishing experience. A massive thank you to all that fished with us this year and we hope to welcome you back aboard for more adventures in 2024. On behalf of all of us at Blue Shark Charters, Happy new year and may it it bring you good health and lots of laughter!

So it is looking like a licensed recreational tuna fishery may be agreed next year in English waters, so hopefully we will get another year of the CHART (catch tag and release tuna) programme next year.

New permitting regimes for a recreational catch and release fisheries in UK waters expected to be in place by summer.

It was great to get out to the Smalls light house this evening to get some footage of the lighthouse in action for an independent film on lighthouses and the keepers that looked after them. Thanks to Carl and Tone for involving us in this project and looking forward to seeing the finished result. A few photos from the trip, thanks to Ffion @ Falcon Boats.

It was great to get out today and make the most of the good weather! There were lots of Joeys and herring round today with a few bigger mackerel pollack and bass. We have spaces on a 3hr this Saturday and the weather is looking good for the beginning of the week. Get in touch if you fancy wetting a line.
