Fantastic day today on our East Cornwall Tour. 8 wonderful guests from as far as the USA, Somerset, Falmouth and Camborne!! 49 species of bird including Dipper, Yellowhammers, Redstarts, Spotted Flycatchers, Treecreepers, Green Woodpeckers, Wheatears and more.

Yet another amazing Avalon Marshes Tour today! 65 species including a super rare GULL-BILLED TERN! Lots of showy Bitterns today too along with the usual Hobby, GW Egrets, Cattle Egrets, Garden Warblers etc. Last bird of the day whilst packing up the van in the car park, a fly over PURPLE HERON! Fantastic day with our Cornwall Birding Ladies at RSPB England Ham Wall. 60 species in total including lots of showy Marsh Harriers, GW Egrets, fly by and Booming Bitterns, 15+ Hobby, Red Kites, Peregrine, Garden Warblers, Cuckoo, 100s of Swifts, Kingfisher and other wildlife. Great company as always! Do it all again on Sunday!!

Well, garden birding at its finest today, despite the Booted Eagle not flying over I did manage 34 species including 180 Red Kite, Hobby, 15+ Buzzard, Sparrowhawk, Kestrel and singing Reed Warbler.

Out and about in Yorkshire and North Notts in the last few days. So many great reserves up here, some of which will feature in our Tour de Yorkshire. Idle Valley was a bit wet yesterday but great to see Garganey and Turtle Dove with Common Terns, Egyptian Geese, Red Kites and 45 other species. Then YWT Potteric Carr Nature Reserve today, the place where I started birding on my first visit in 1978!! Such a great reserve now with Bitterns, Marsh Harriers, Hobby, Cettis Warblers, Bearded T**s and so much more. Best of all was seeing my mentor Sue Bird. Still showing people round the reserve today and looking the same as she did 30 years ago!!
Back to Cornwall tomorrow, ready for two tours to Somerset next week!

Fantastic private tour for Mike and gang today. Started at Gwithian and finished at Porthgwarra. 72 species in total including Cuckoo, Yellow Wagtail, Spoonbill, Egyptian Goose, Dartford Warbler, Purple Sandpipers, Manx Shearwaters, Wheatears, Whimbrels and stunning summer plumage Grey Plovers!
Great company as always and the weather was good all day!

Fantastic morning on our CBWPS - Cornwall's bird club field trip. Treeve Common and Lands End, bathed in sunshine and looking for summer visitors. We weren't disappointed with Tree Pipit, Lesser Whitethroat, Common Whitethroat, Whimbrel, Swallow, Sand Martin, House Martin, Wheatear and Sedge Warbler. Lots of Manx Shearwaters and some close encounters with Choughs!! Great company as usual.

Final day on Majorca. Spent the day walking from Can Pucafort to S'Albufera. One of our favourite areas. Load of birds including Theklas Larks, Zitting Cisticolas, Eleanor's Falcons, Turtle Dove and then on to the Depuradora where we found three Whiskered Terns. From there it was back to S'Albufera. Finally found a flock of 17 Bee-eater, 6 Gull-billed Terns, 10 Black Terns, 3 Little Stints 5 Curlew Sandpipers and a Collared Pratincole! 75 species for the day!
3 full days birding, 90 amazing species!! Anyone fancy a tour here next year?!

Boquer Valley was stunning as usual but hard work today. Singles of Booted Eagle and Eleanor's Falcons but loads of Sardinians Warblers! Single male Balearic Warbler, Siskin, Crossbill, 2 Woodchat Shrike, 6 Blue Rock Thrush, Redstarts and Balearic Flycatcher. No Wryneck again!! Depuradora tomorrow!

Brilliant penultimate Nightjar Evening last night with up to 6 birds seen and heard well. Surprising as the wind was quite strong! Supporting cast of Spotted Flycatcher and amazing views of Tawny Owl picked up with the ZEISS Birding DTI !!
